Briana Banks Exposed Review

As I understand it, the appeal of Ed Powers—the man, not so much the filmmaker—is that he’s a kind of everyman with whom the viewer can identify. Watching him make it with pretty, young girls gives hope to the poor slob with a more common physique than all those buffed up porn stars. Be that as it may, Ed Powers does less than nothing for me--less, because I lose all interest in a scene when he makes an appearance before the camera. He exudes that creepy dirty-old-man odor that even today wafts up unpleasantly from the sweaty underbelly of porn. Which isn’t to say that Powers, when he stays behind the camera, doesn’t occasionally capture a little lightning.

Both sides of Ed Powers are on display in “Briana Banks Exposed.” Briana is featured in three scenes and her unfortunate willingness to screw Powers ensures that he will appear in each as a performer. The middle scene, however, starts differently, with Powers encouraging Briana to let his cameragirl touch her pussy. When she doesn’t object, the cameragirl gets down on her knees and gives Briana an extended taste of lesbian oral sex. It is, Briana says, her first time with a girl, and she cums. What makes this portion of the scene special is Briana’s reaction afterwards. No, she doesn’t eat the cameragirl, but she does say, “Can I kiss her? I’ve never kissed a girl.” Powers, of course, doesn’t object, nor does the cameragirl, so Briana gets her wish. Then Powers hands the camera back to his assistant and the scene takes a dive.

Those who like Powers because of his everyman appeal may like his scenes with Briana considerably more than I did. Briana, though attractive, is neither made up nor costumed to appear devastatingly pretty; she has a natural girl-next-door quality that imparts an accessibility that may, in itself, be a turn-on. Then, too, she’s into whatever’s on the menu. Ed takes her in the ass in the first and middle scenes, from “New Ends 14” and “More Dirty Debutantes 108,” and he nails her straight in the last scene, from “More Dirty Debutantes 113.” Though inexperienced with the cumshot (she simply juts out her tongue as far as she can and waits for it), she’s game nonetheless. I came away from these scenes liking Briana and wishing Ed and kept his cock in his pants.

Also “exposed” on this disc are Jeanie Rivers, Kylie Wylde, and Monique Alexander. Jeanie’s scene is a solo masturbation effort from the same film, Randy West’s “Real Female Masturbation 8,” that features Tera Patrick. Jeanie is certainly pretty here and her body lovely, and the scene concludes with a satisfying orgasm. But it takes her quite awhile to get there, and the action in the meanwhile is a little slow.

It takes Kylie and Monique, in a cut from “I Love Lesbians 10,” even longer to get to the Big O. Divided into 12 sub-chapters, the scene clocks in at just under half an hour. Too long in my book, but feel free to disagree. Both girls are blonde and attractive and in all that time something exciting was bound to happen; in fact, one of the girls eats pussy as if she has a real taste for it. She begins the scene wearing tight blue jeans that look terrific on her, but they come off too soon. Oddly, during almost 30 minutes of sex, the two never really kiss.

“Briana Banks Exposed,” depending on your predilections, either benefits or suffers from its disparate collection of scenes; it’s doubtful it will leave anyone entirely satisfied. Applying the simplest criterion—Is there anything about it that makes me glad I have it?—I find that there is: the lesbian portion of Briana’s second scene. Yet if I take this a step further back—Knowing what it has to offer, does it contain anything to make me want to buy it?—I’m less certain. Fans of Briana and/or Ed Powers should have an easier time making up their minds. On the other hand, girl/girl fans intrigued by a half-hour lesbian scene will probably want to pick up “ILL 10” instead.

If only Ed had let it lie.
