The Little Details

NOTE: This is an amateur video. Amateur and homemade movies don’t have the budget nor the resources of studio porn, and therefore rarely get close to the same quality technically. I’m rating this DVD on the same scale, but most homemade or amateur features would rarely make it above a 3 on the standard scale I use for studio porn for their technical aspects. The performers also aren’t normally the ‘glamour stars’ one expects from studio porn, and instead use people who look like somebody you might encounter in your day to day life. Finally, the camera work has a different feel, as it’s often shot from a tripod or with somebody who doesn’t have the technical training or experience of professional cameramen. Initial Expectations: Brenda and Collin have been pretty average from what I've seen in the past, but I guess they pick things up nicely in this release. I wouldn't be surprised if they do as Shot at Home always has a great eye for homemade porn.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are pretty good. Supposedly Brenda and Collin got a new camera before making this release, and it does show. The audio is well balanced, but you do get a bit of camera noise throughout the movie. The video is presented in the full frame format and looks pretty good. As usual with homemade releases there's a bit of motion and some shadows, but it all stays in pretty good control throughout the movie. There is a little pixelation that pops up as well, but it's pretty limited.

Watermark Warning: Although the normally don’t bother me much, there is a small and tasteful watermark warning that stays in the lower right corner. This made it very easy to filter out for me, and quite honestly, I didn’t notice it unless I thought about it.

Menus: The menus are pretty simple. The main menu keeps Shot at Home’s usual style with their logo and a photo from the movie. The chapter menu is also simple, and lets you choose where to go in the movie based on six clips from the movie.

The Feature

Scene 1 - Brenda and Collin

This is a fun scene. The bathroom location works well and there's some nice care put into the camera angles. Scene 4 - Brenda and Collin

Brenda and Collin 4 is a very nice step forward for this couple and their homemade video line. I've had a hard time getting into this series as they both came off so quiet that it was hard to tell how much they were getting into the sex. I don't need people screaming their heads off, but these two were so quiet you'd think they were getting it on in the confessional during Christmas mass. Thankfully that starts to change here, and that makes all the difference in the world. A few smiles from Brenda, some moans, and a few comments during and after the sex and there's suddenly some great personality and it opens the entire movie up to the point that even the earlier scenes seem better. Yes, it does take Brenda and Collin 4 a little bit to get going, but once they do this one is nicely worthwhile. If you're into redheads and want to try homemade porn, this is a very nice place to start.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, most of Shot at Home's DVDs can be found on their website for around $20. This is easily the best Brenda and Collin release I've seen so far. You can see a progression to them getting more at ease with the camera, and it makes this one a lot of fun. The technical aspects are also handled pretty well for a homemade release, and there's a little effort put into the extras with this being a Shot at Home release. This is a pretty good homemade release.

Note to Shot at Home: I'll admit that it took me a little bit to warm up to Brenda and Collin, but now I'm seeing what you saw in them.
