Initial Expectations: I can’t think of a single feature where Devinn Lane hasn’t impressed me, which gives me very high hopes.

Initial Reaction: It’s another Wicked winner that pushes things a little further than Wicked normally does.

Audio /Video Quality: As usual with Wicked, the technical aspects are top notch. The audio is clear and nicely balanced. The video is just as good. It’s clear with barely any signs of grain and the colors are nicely balanced. There’s a few shadows here and there, but they fit the locations well.

Music: The music is well balanced with the rest of the audio. The style is a little like normal porn music, but still slightly different. It’s a little harder but still sexy and fits the scenes very well.

Menus: The menus has some nice animation revolving around Devinn Lane, which is a very good thing. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of the scene and a scene number.

The Feature: When checking on her late husband’s only asset, Devinn Lane finds out that it’s a brothel. Taking it in the typical Hollywood fashion, she faints and doesn’t accept the information too willingly. She finally comes around and comes up with an idea to make the bordello even more money but putting all of the girls’ talents to work.

Renee LaRue, well known as one of the adult film stars with the nicest personalities as well as a killer body and cute face, starts things out with Chris Cannon in a partially filled bathtub. She rolls around in it a little to get her lavender see through bra and panties a little more see through, and then gives him a nice little hummer. It also pushes the limits more than Wicked normally does in a great scene with Mickey G that raised the sex as well as the overall feature up an extra little bit. If you enjoy Wicked’s features and or Devinn Lane, you’ll be quite happy with Bordello Blues.

Extras: The photo gallery lasts about two and a half minutes with about five seconds per full screen photo. The photos look good, but not quite as good as normal. They’re also completely full screen photos rather than being framed or done in another format to match the feature’s feel.

Bios are included for Devinn Lane, Gwen Summers, Inari Vachs, Chris Cannon, Ian Daniels, and Mickey G. As with many of Wicked’s other recent releases, the style of the audio bios is done to match the feel of the entire menu theme and the movie. They look great, offer some nice information about the stars, and have a link to each star’s scene.

Wesley Emerson and Devinn Lane team up to give an audio commentary. As usual, Devinn seems like a heck of a lot of fun, and but the chemistry with Wesley seems to come and go. They’re very professional and don’t seem as familiar with each other than Devinn and some of the other directors she’s done commentaries with. They talk about many of the stars as well as the sets the scenes were shot on. They also cover more political things, such as legalized prostitution, which fits in very nicely with the feature’s subject. Even better, we find that Devinn is a supporter of the “Free the Weed” campaign. She also gives a few keys for male anal action. There are a few dead spots in the commentary, which seems to be more due to Wesley than Devinn, but it still adds very nicely to the overall package.

Finally, All Access: The Making of Bordello Blues lasts a little over seventeen minutes. It nicely mixes interviews with most of the stars with behind the scenes showing what was happening on each star’s scene that you didn’t get to see. Each female star nicely introduces themselves at the start of their interview so you know who’s who. Unfortunately, the guys are basically ignored, but Michael J. Cox gives a nice interview right before they shoot the pop shot. There’s also a nice little bonus with Inari masturbating, but the cameraman who’s doing the interviews and commentary turns it into more of a joke that will probably ruin it for many people. I know it started to for me. It’s finished off by a little bit of the photo session being shot. Surprisingly Devinn Lane was all but ignored here, just like the guys. It’s a good behind the scenes, but could have been a little better.

Overall: Currently, Bordello Blues can be found online for between about $21 and $30 with a few stores offering it for under $25. Wicked has done a very nice job here, so it’s worth the extra dough. The movie is well done, both sexually and dramatically. The transfer is also great and the extras are very nice.

Note to Wicked: Nice job with the male anal scene here. It’s something that pushes the limits, but was done very tastefully. Thanks for taking the risk.
