Initial Expectations: Penthouse has been growing on me with their releases and this one has a great cast. I'm looking forward to this one.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are nicely done. The audio is pretty clear and well balanced, but due to the artistic style there are some areas where the music's the only audio you get. There's also some areas where the audio is dubbed. The video is very nicely presented in the anamorphic widescreen format. There's some good care put into the lighting, although it does get a little dark at times for the night scene (as stupid as that might sound, I do like to see the action even when it's at night). The video also has a few artistic styles, but they worked for me much more than they interfered with the action.

Music: The music is pretty well done. It nicely varies its style throughout the movie, and varies the balance to go with it. Although the music didn't always work for me, it helped out the scenes a lot more than it hurt them.

False Advertising: The cover states a running time of 110 min. which is roughly a third longer than the movie. To me this grossly misrepresents the movie length (even if it's meant to be a total run time of the DVD, which is completely stupid to me as many people don't care about all of the extras). I'm deducing a half point from the overall DVD because of this.

Menus: The main menu blends a few stills with a little cheesy animation for a first impression that's actually fun and pretty good. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a clip of each scene along with the name of the ladies in it.

The Feature

There are certain things you don't do while in the military, and asking a lot of questions is one of those things. So when Corporal Slick Rhodes tells Sargent Steven St. Croix that he's sending him and his motley crew out into the woods for three days to fend for themselves and that there's going to be big trouble if they lose more than twenty pounds combined, that's just what they head out to do. The squad pairs up and heads into the woods, all fending for themselves as best they can.

Scene 1 – Brooke Banner and Steven St. Croix

Sarge Steven gets it on with dirty blonde Brooke on a hood of a Mustang while on leave. They kiss passionately as they strip each other down before Steven starts kissing his way down to her tits. Scene 3 – Megan Monroe and Nat Turnher

Scene 5 – Katarina Kat and Alan Stafford

Boot Camp: Sex Survival Weekend is a surprising little release. There's a part of me that wants to rip it as the movie and scenes are on the short side, especially compared to what the boxcover portrays. As weak as some of it looks on paper, however, the movie has a lot of charm to it and I just couldn't get down on it. Yes, the setup is silly, but it's also never treated like it's anything too serious and more than anything seems like it wants to have some fun setting up the scenes. It does just that every time around, and then keeps the fun going by letting some good chemistry flow between the performers. I think Katarina Kat and Alan Stafford's closing scene was my favorite here, while the threesome between Allison Pierce, Lexi Belle, and Chris Cannon came in last due to how dark it was. Yes, I know it was a night scene but I still want to see the action! Boot Camp: Sex Survival Weekend is a light fluffy porno, but I can't really say too much against that since that's just what it seems like it wants to be and it does it well.

The Extra Stuff

Trailers are included for Slumber Party, Booty Call, Picturesque, Exxxtra Credit, Rexxx, and Speakeasy. The photo gallery lasts about four and a quarter minutes with about five seconds per good looking snapshot. There's also a bonus scene with and accompanying photo gallery and internet information.

Bonus Scene – Marlie Moore and Nicole Sheridan

The bonus scene comes from Uniform Behavior. Dirty blondes Nicole and Marlie “borrow” a jeep from the motorpool so they can get a little “don't ask, don't tell” time together. Currently, many Penthouse DVDs can be found online for between about $17 and $25 with several stores offering them for around $20. If you want something light and fun, this one might be worth the money. The movie can be a touch on the artistic side due to the editing, but the scenes are fun and have some nice chemistry. The technical aspects show some good care, and although there is a little effort put into the extras, there isn't much that deals with this release. This is a pretty good DVD and well worth checking out if you want something fun to watch with that special someone.

Note to Penthouse: Please watch your cover claims. Listing a full DVD running time is a bit deceptive since people normally pick up DVDs for the movies not the extras (there's a reason they're called extras).
