The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects show all the care one expects from Digital Playground. The audio is clear, well balanced, and every bit as good as in many mainstream releases. The video is presented in anamorphic widescreen and looks amazing on all levels.

Music: The music is extremely well done. It helps give them story sequences an almost cinematic feel, and knows to stay out of the way during the sex scenes.

Menus: The main menu nicely combines a bit of the boxcover with a little animation and clips from the movie for a good first impression. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a chapter number that doesn't correspond to the chapter numbers in the movie.

The Feature

There's always something going on at the fire station, but it might not always be a fire. Between a death in the unit and a developer trying to buy the fire station and a few last properties around it, the Digital Playground girls have plenty to occupy their time.

After Scott picks them up in the firetruck, Manuel and knockout dirty blonde Kayden get it on while Scott drives them to work. Manuel kisses her and eats her from behind before Kayden sucks his cock and rides it cowgirl style. This is a great opening scene, as well as probably being the best in the movie. Kayden and Manuel have fantastic chemistry and put out some great energy. The vocals are a bit light, but that fits in with the location, and they do pick things up a bit as they go. I had very high expectations for this scene after the great job Manuel and Kayden did together in The Smiths, and they didn't' come close to letting me down.

After a little psych interview, Tommy gets it on with shrink Raven. She lets him grope her on the desk in front of him before turning around so he can eat her from behind. Raven has Tommy sit on the edge of the desk so she can suck and stroke his cock before he fucks her missionary style. This is a pretty hot scene. It seems a touch on the short side for a movie this big, but there's some good chemistry between Raven and Tommy and she definitely starts and ends the scene right. I love her making the movie on Tommy at the beginning, and her enthusiasm for the facial definitely took the scene up another notch or two. This scene can't keep up with the opening scene, but it still has plenty going for it.

Riley gets it on with Ben and his busty bottle blonde assistant Bridgette in his office. As Ben reaches around to play with her Bridgette sucks her tits and lets Riley lick hers in return. Bridgette plays with Riley a little in return before they team up on Ben orally with Bridgette mixing in a little titty fucking for him. Ben fucks Riley from behind as the girls sixty-nine before Bridgette gets up for a reverse cowgirl ride. Riley takes a cowgirl ride while eating Bridgette before letting Bridgette give her a little tongue in return while being boned from behind by Ben. This is another good scene. There's a very good balance between Riley and Bridgette, as well as some nice interaction between them. That chemistry helps to make this another winner of a scene, and it moves along at a nice pace. The only thing that really held the scene back at all for me was the camera work was often a little close for me, and a bit of cum swapping would have also helped out the ending quite a bit. This is still a good scene and works well for the movie.

Mick takes his turn with Alexis next, and starts off eating and fingering her bald beaver as she lays back on the desk. He trades places with her so she can gobble his knob before he takes her from behind. Raven also rides Mick reverse cowgirl style before dropping down for a nice facial finish.

Not surprisingly, this is another hot scene that still left a little to be desired. Raven's scene this time seems a little more full, and once again she puts out some great enthusiasm for the cum as well as nice energy and vocals. Throw in some nicely done camera work and editing and a good pace and you have another winner of a scene, but at the same time it also felt like it could have used another position and a little more time.

Busty bottle blonde Jesse gets it on with Scott on a fire truck next. He eats her pussy as she lays back on top of the truck before they move down to the back bumper where Jesse sucks his cock. This is a good scene. Jesse and Scott have nice chemistry and use the location well. They keep things moving pretty good, but once again the scene feels a bit short and left me wanting more. This is a good scene, but also felt like it should have been much longer.

Mick and Tommy work out in the gym, Katsuni comes in wearing a simply workout outfit and starts her own workout. When the guys head to the shower, Katsuni heads in soon after with a bar of soap that she quickly drops. She moves between the guys before pulling them in to her, and strokes them both before dropping down to mix in a bit of sucking. Mick starts fucking her from behind standing up as Katsuni continues to give Tommy a bit of head, and then turns around for Tommy to let her have it from behind. The guys take turns working her pussy over from the front and back before they move to the floor of the shower for some reverse cowgirl action. Finally the guys each take Katsuni from behind with Tommy popping on her ass and Mick letting her have a facial.

This is a hot scene. Katsuni does a great job with the tease leading into the scene, and every bit as good of a job taking on both guys. As usual there's a nice balance between the guys as they take her on, and the scene moves along at a very nice pace with great camera work. There's some nice things that lead up to this scene, and it pays off very well.

After working things out, the girls get it on by the firetruck. Katsuni starts out pulling up her shirt, which naturally gets the girls to swarm around her kissing her and each other as they work their way over to the truck. They move around the truck as they work each other over and mix things up continually among each other. Finally the scene fades out.

This is a slightly above average all girl scene. There's no doubt as to how hot these girls are, as well as how into each other they are. They do a great job working on each other and moving around to mix things. My problem here is that once again the scene seems way too short, as it only lasts a little over ten minutes, and the ending, as it feels like the porno timer ran out rather than anybody being satisfied. The enthusiasm the girls show for each other helps to raise this one above the average level, but the ending and running time don't let it get much further than that.

Body Heat is a very impressive adult feature that still left me wishing for a little more. It starts off very strong, with plenty of style, substance, and care, as well as a great scene between the always hot Kayden Kross and Manuel Ferrara. Sadly, the last three quarters of the movie never quite get to the same level as the first quarter. Don't get me wrong, Body Heat shows more care than 95% of the other adult features out there, as well as looking like it probably has about the same budget as the other 95% out there combined. As strong as the plot starts and picks up at the end, the middle is extremely average due to not really seeming like it knows how to get from the opening to the big finale. The other problem is the sex. It never drops anywhere near the average mark, but at the same time most of the scenes left me wanting more. With a movie that's this big two positions just never seemed like enough to make a fully satisfying sex scene and had each scene leaving me happy but always feeling a little let down at the same time. If the sex in Body Heat had another five or six minutes in each scene, which most of the time would have meant another position or two, it would have topped off close to three hours. Throw in another fifteen minutes of plot to work the storyline between Evan and Ben in for a little more tension, and maybe even another fire scene, and Body Heat would have been darn near unstoppable. Body Heat is a very impressive feature that still felt like it had much more to give, and with a little more time and effort would have been darn near unstoppable rather than just darn impressive.

The Extra Stuff

The second DVD is devoted entirely to the extras. Trailers are included for eight other Digital Playground releases. The photo gallery lasts five minutes with about six seconds per great looking still. There's also deleted scenes, a behind the scenes featurette, and commercials. There's some nice stuff here, but with a movie that's under two and a half hours I'm not sure why this couldn't have been a single DVD release.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts about thirty five minutes. After a few quick shots around the set, Jamall chats with Raven and they have a little fun with Mick. Things move over to Scott and Kayden having fun before Jesse, Raven, and Kayden talk about firefighters, Robby D., Digital Playground, and the movie. Riley and Jesse give a little eye candy with some topless boxing and while they chat with Jamal before Scott has some fun on the streets of LA. There's a little fun around the set and interviews with the cast mixed in with shooting the scenes before things focus on Jesse as she has some fun chatting about the movie. After a montage of Jamall talking, he chats with Bridgette B. and Ben English and captures some of their scene being shot. Evan has a little fun chatting with Jamall before a comparison of reality and the movie. Manuel also gets a bit of fun before Riley talks about setting a new personal record. Evan and Jesse each return to have a little more fun with Riley joining in nicely with Jesse and the fireman's pole. Finally you get a few quick shots around the set with plenty of goodbyes. This is a very nice behind the scenes featurette. You get plenty of the fun one normally expects from a Digital Playground behind the scenes featurette and more of it as this featurette is three to four times longer than normal. There's plenty of eye candy, and as usual the Digital Playground girls are more than playful. This is an enjoyable featurette that adds nicely to the overall release.

The deleted scenes last a little under three minutes. You get a little dialogue between Kayden and Jesse, as well as a little eye candy from Kayden. There's a quick moment of dialogue with Katsuni and Riley as well as a little dialogue between Kayden and Marcus. This is a nice little addition to the overall DVD, and as usual with many deleted scenes nothing seems too vital.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many Digital Playground DVDs can be found online for between about $24 and $36 with a few stores offering them near the low end. Rent this one first or aim a bit low. The movie's good, but not as great as it seems like it should be. The extras are good, and the technical aspects really shine. Between the running time and extras it also feels like it should have been a very full single disc release rather than a two disc release.

Note to Digital Playground: I hope you don't take this as a negative review as there really is a lot of great things about Body Heat and it is very impressive visually. Instead I hope you take much of this review as constructive criticism.
