The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are okay. The audio is clear and nicely balanced, including the comments from behind the camera, but there are a few background noises that pop up during Sophie's outdoor scene. The video is presented in the full frame format and looks pretty good. There's a touch of grain and there's the slight motion that's commonly associated with gonzo porn.

Music: None

Menus: The main menu is fairly generic and gives you a still with a little minor animation. The chapter menu shows some nice care and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene as well as the names of the girls in the scene. There's also a star index that lets you choose a scene based on the name of each girl with her still, and then lets you choose where you want to go in the scene sexually.

The Feature

Blacks, Blondes, and One Asian goes with a simple idea. Each scene has a gonzo format with Jim Malibu pretending to be urban J'Mal (and you can guess the ethnicity that goes along with it). Scene 1 – Kelly Wells and Guy DaSilva

Scene 2 – Phoenix Ray and Guy DaSilva

Arcadia, Ace, and Jony finish this one off pretty well.

Blacks, Blondes, and One Asian is an okay release that should have been much better. There's a nice cast here and they all put out some nice chemistry, energy, and vocals. The camera work is also nicely done, and blends some nice closer shots with plenty of distance shots. The problem is J'Mal (Jim Malibu). He sounds completely like an old white guy trying to be a black guy, and he has problems shutting up throughout the movie. It's the worst during the tease and after the popshots, but every time the scene slows down a bit he starts talking and making me wince. It was downright painful at times, and easily took the movie down a full point from where the stars had it. The editing also had a few misfires, such as a nice big cut in the middle of Sophie's facial, which hurt the movie a little more. The best thing about Blacks, Blondes, and One Asian is the title, as the rest shows lost potential and comes off a bit annoying.

The Extra Stuff

The photo gallery lasts about five and a half minutes with about six seconds per good looking snapshot or full screen photo. Trailers are included for Eon McKai's New Wave Hookers, Dez's Dirty Weekend 4, and Eon McKai's Kill Girl Kill 2 before the main menu and Sloppy Ho's, Adventures of the Booty Bros 2, and Busta Nut in the extras menu. There's also weblinks and phone sex crap.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of VCA's Excessive DVDs can be found online for between about $15 and $30 with a few stores offering them for under $20. Aim low here. There's some pretty good action, but J'Mal's mouthing off through the scenes really held the movie back. The technical aspects are pretty good, but there's no effort put into the extras. This is an okay release.

Note to VCA / Excessive Entertainment: I guess it's good you try new things now and then, but please don't let Jim Malibu play J'Mal any more!
