Betty Does Texas is a transgender adult feature movie from the husband and wife directing team of Tyler St. Syn and Michelle Austin. Betty Does Texas is a road trip movie, of sorts, that integrates some of the real-life aspects of the main star Betty Black's entrance into adult movies into the story. Betty Does Texas has Betty Black searching for adult entertainment that she can relate to and that matches her body; curvy with tattoos. She comes across a sex scene of Michelle Austin with Christian XXX and, after fully enjoying the sex scene, decides she must meet Michelle. Betty heads from Los Angeles, California, to Austin, Texas, and the movie shows Betty's escapades as she tries to find Michelle.

The fact that Michelle Austin and Tyler St. Syn were working with a very limited budget is obvious, however, instead of letting that bring the movie down the two worked well with what they had to create a fun adult movie. The movie utilizes some inventive camera work, which gives the movie a unique feel and helps elevate the movie as well. There are some issues with the wind on the microphone and this reviewer wishes that the movie had utilized more locations. None of this comes close to detracting from the movie as a whole though.

The sex scenes in the movie tend to be on the longer side, which is common to many modern adult feature movies. There is a nice variety in the sex scenes in the movie and the cast seems to always be enjoying themselves. Only one of the sex scenes in the movie feels artificially put into the movie; the rest integrate well with the plot. This reviewer wishes that a little more of Betty Black's journey had been shown as the movie did an enjoyable job with the road trip part of the movie but it felt a little rushed, likely to fit in the sex scene that feels artificial. While the viewer knows throughout the movie that Betty Black will manage to find Michelle Austin, a bit of conflict stuck into her trip would have added to the movie. The story is lean and simplistic but the story works well for what is being presented. Betty Black is very likable and does a great job of carrying the movie from beginning to end.

Overall, Betty Does Texas is an enjoyable feature transgender adult movie. The cast does a great job and the movie overcomes its financial issues with unique camera work and great casting. Fans of the genre should enjoy Betty Does Texas.

Betty Does Texas was shot in 4K and is presented on the DVD in the 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio in 480i. The image presented on the release is beautiful with vibrant colors and no noticeable defects in the picture at all.

Betty Does Texas is presented with an English Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo audio track. The audio doesn't contain any issues that weren't introduced while shooting the movie and the dialog is clear and easy to understand at all times.

Michelle Austin Films and VIP Digital Media have included a few extras on the release. The best of which is a 14-minute interview, which is more of a conversation, with Betty Black and Michelle Austin that covers transitioning, issues that transsexual people face, about being transsexual, and her entrance into adult movies. There is also a four-minute behind the scenes featurette.

Betty Does Texas is an obviously low budget transgender feature adult movie that manages to rise above the budgetary constraints resulting in a fun movie to watch. Betty Does Texas keeps a lighthearted feel throughout the movie and Betty Black does a great job of carrying the movie. Fans of the genre should find Betty Does Texas to be a worthwhile watch. Michelle Austin Films and VIP Digital Media have done a nice job with their DVD release of Betty Does Texas with beautiful video and audio quality and an enjoyable interview extra.
