Best Of Colt 5 & 6, The Review

Long before there was VHS—and seemingly eons before there were DVDs—an enterprising studio calling itself Colt produced a series of one-reel films for gay viewers, sending thousands out to buy film projectors. The hallmark of this studio was to feature incredibly gorgeous ultra masculine men having sex together. It totally shattered the popular concession that gays were all wispy effeminates who lisped and had limp wrists. For those other than gays, it was jaw-dropping. For those who were gay, it was dick-lifting.

Probably—for fear of censorship—the films were not overly explicit. Much of the sex was photographed the way our soft-core productions were filmed today. One knew they were sucking cock but one didn’t always see it. Occasionally there was a brief glimpse to confirm one’s suspicions that the dick was actually being sucked, but for the most part the action was masked or else dicks were simply kissed, lightly licked, stroked, and otherwise worshiped. And although these hunks were probably fucking, one never ever saw a dick going into an asshole. Frequently the guys never ejaculated. But when they did it was awesome.

No doubt the previous generation spent many happy hours viewing these short films and spending. For us today who are used to much more explicit action they will seem quite mild. But—and it’s a big BUT—they are fascinating, highly erotic, and—beautiful! And although they probably will not bring forth the gushers they did in their day, they will undoubtedly make you horny as hell.

Colt gathered these together in a VHS series titled THE BEST OF COLT and now on DVD they are still further grouped in DVDs that house two of the 60 minute compilations such as THE BEST OF COLT, Parts 1 & 2, etc. to form a 120 minute DVD. I have chosen Parts 5 & 6 for this review. There are three scenes and two solos in Part 5; four scenes in Part 6.

PART 5:

“Service Entry” – Mike Davis, a very handsome smooth shaven guy who was a real cock-throb of decades ago, is sitting in a cabin with his buddy Joe Braggs, a young slender bearded guy. Moose, a big brawny guy, comes delivering water and ends up delivering more than that. Well, actually it’s Mike who ends up as Moose fucks him.

“Overload” – Johnny Harden, a smooth big-dicked guy who did some early Falcon films, solos. There are moments when we think—and hope—that Johnny will suck himself, but he doesn’t He does shoot a copious load.

“Muscle Beach” – Muscle man Mike Betts is sunbathing nude when a jeep drives onto the sand and emits the beautiful Rick Wolfmeir. Rick has a close-cropped beard but no mustache. His body is like that of a Greek sculpture. God, what a hunk! He and Mike strike up an acquaintance and frolic in the waves before frolicking on the blanket. (We actually see some cocksucking by both.)

“Hot Cop” does not list the performers. It is one hot scene. A well-built stud in a motorcycle cop’s helmet is worshiped by an attractive young man who lovingly kisses his cock, licks it, and briefly sucks it. It is very erotic. The kid is face-fucked, but that’s not explicit.

“Blood, Sweat & Beers” is a solo by Hank Ditmar. Hank was a stud to die for! “Hammerhead” – stars Gordon Grant, a smooth-faced hunk who did a lot of work in the early Falcon films. Gordon was built like the proverbial brick shithouse. “House Boat” was filmed in the Grand Canyon. Amid these towering vistas, Gordon Grant rows away from his houseboat to rescue the unconscious young Marty Palmer floating on a rubber life raft. He lugs the kid aboard and puts a phial of ammonia under his nose. Nothing happens, so he takes off the kid’s bathing trunks. This does the trick. As Gordon returns to his house-boating chores, the kid begins an obvious flirtation. Still naked he stands observing Gordon and pulling on his prick. When this gets him nowhere, Marty climbs to the roof and does a seductive dance twitching that adorable butt and flopping his young dick around. This was the forerunner of—and no doubt the influence on—Titan’s magnificent GORGE. At the conclusion of their shrouded fuck, they dive into the water. (Marty’s swan dive gets a 10.) The films ends with them back on board. Both are still nude. Gordon’s arm is around Marty who places his head affectionately on Gordon’s shoulder and the boat sails on.

Although these films are no longer the pud-pounders they used to be, they are very beautiful to watch and enormously—oh so enormously—erotic. They transcend mere porn into fine art. One’s collection is not complete without one of this series. I recommend this one most highly.
