The First Word:  Michael Ninn takes a chance by showcasing the debut of Georgia Adair into the adult video world in his typical glamorous fashion.

What's It About?:   I'd never heard of Georgia Adair before watching this DVD, but apparently she has her own successful amateur web site.  From the video's introduction (which is one of the most professional and interesting I've seen in adult, BTW) and the black & white interview clips between the sex scenes, we learn that Georgia, a petite blonde with a pretty face, wants to graduate from amateur photosets and cam shows to mass media.   Enter Michael Ninn, one of the premier creative talents in the business, who takes the Wisconsin girl-next-door and gives her an opportunity to have what few newcomers ever get:  their own star vehicle.

It's a little confusing at first...I wasn't sure whether to expect a documentary, a fictional couple's feature, or a set of Ninn's creative vignettes.  Even though the introduction makes you think that it's going to be a documentary or a "mocumentary," Ninn doesn't stray far from his core portfolio; Becoming Georgia Adair is a five scene, plotless series of vignettes.

The first starts with Dee, a veteran black starlet, masturbating inside a nice house, while our star, Georgia, strips and plays with herself outside the front door.  After an lengthy, slow section of the girls in fairly tame solo action, they come together to share spiked haired Eric Masterson.  Fans of foreplay will love the long and slow tonguing that Eric gives Georgia, as well as the relaxed and deliberate way she returns the favor.  Although Dee eventually joins in (and does a nice job riding reverse cowgirl), the big turn-on of the scene is seeing this midwestern girl get fucked professionally for the first time.  The scene ends very well with a splendid facial on both the girls, along with some post-pop Frenching and sucking.

My favorite scene of Becoming Georgia Adair is the elegant stairway scene where cute blonde Faith Grant masturbates then hooks up with the massively hung Julian.  They definitely have a spark in this scene, and the banging is fast and furious.  Even more amazing is seeing Julian slamming his massive tool in and out of Faith's ass in prone doggy position.  I have no friggin' idea how she manages no only to withstand the pounding, but also really enjoy it.  It's a great scene that doesn't disappoint at the end with a top-notch facial captured from two different angles.

The girl-girl scene between Dee and Georgia is next.  Dee does a nice job licking Georgia's pussy and clit.  She introduces a cow-patterned vibe (I'm not so sure about that creative decision) and a thin anal plug.  So Georgia does do a DP in her first movie, although it's not with the real thing.  It is a pretty good girl-girl scene though, with teasing, experimental sex play with a lot of eye contact.  I also liked the nice view of the buttplug being inserted.

Next, Oliva Del Rio and Dino Bravo hook up in a boy-girl, flanked by both Georgia and Dee, who are independently masturbating in chairs around the couple.  I don't care for Oliva's looks, and--as before--I found the masturbation to be pretty dull.  The only interesting aspect of the scene is the nice icing-like pop shot on Olivia's tit at the end--otherwise, it's a pretty forgettable scene.

The final scene starts out with some softcore tease material with Georgia, including some slow dancing by the pool and a bit of really nice looking black & white footage of her getting sprayed by a hose in the pool.  This is followed by a few minutes of light solo masturbation, then it's Dee's turn to rub her pussy on a chaise lounge.  It's a pretty tame, artsy introduction to the scene--nothing hardcore about it and no orgasms either.  

The scene then transitions of a boy-girl with Georgia and Eric Masterson.  Eric eats her pussy while she's sitting on the edge of the pool with a spray of water cascading over them.  Georgia delivers a nice, slow BJ with camera eye contact; I especially like her tongue-licking style. The fucking is pretty vanilla with nothing extreme, but at the same time it's a nice-looking, hard-pounding scene.  In other words, it's an elegantly photographed scene that has a good level of enthusiasm, but at the same time, it's not something that a raincoater would enjoy.  The pop shot is pretty good though, as Georgia takes the facial like a champ.  It's also erotic with the water and cum cascading off of her face while she plays with Eric's cock and stares into the camera.  Definitely a good way to end the video!

What I liked: The introduction and cut scenes:  The opening credits are wonderful and creative.  While glimpses of Georgia's still photo shoots play, accompanied by a catchy hip-hop song, we hear the voice mail messages that Lucky, Georgia's agent, leaves for Ninn, talking about this girl, Georgia Adair, who wants to get into the video business.  It sets up the context of the movie, and subsequent messages are played throughout the video as scene transitions.  There are also some good interviews between Georgia, Lucky, and producer Brandon Blackburn, as they negotiate what sort of scenes she will perform in the movie.   It's a nice little "fly on the wall" sort of concept that really works.

Faith and Julian dig each other:  One of the highlights of the video is the scene between Faith Grant and Julian.  From the Ninn's commentary, we learn that Julian's size kept Georgia from working with him and that Faith gladly stepped in to work with Julian.  There's definitely chemistry between the two, since they go at each other with abandon.  It's scenes like this one that renew my hope in the adult industry that it's not just about the money or the job for the performers.

What I didn't like:  A bit too slow and a bit too soft:  While I generally like slower, more artistic projects (Ninn is one of my favorite directors, BTW), I think that the action builds a little too slowly for my tastes.  A good example is the extensive solo masturbation scene that opens the film.  It's not the best eye candy and the almost-softcore rubbing gets tedious to watch.  To be fair, it's refreshing to see an emphasis on foreplay and female oral sex.  Still, it would have been nice to pick up the pace and turn up the kink up just a notch.

DVD Extras:  The DVD package is well done, with a single menu that offers one-click access to all of the content.  Well, almost all--the audio commentary appears to be accessible only via changing the audio track manually. From the main menu, which has a moving video background, the thumbnail video clips of each of the five scenes appears on the bottom, eliminating hte need for a separate chapter selection menu.  

At first glance, the number of extras seems to be small.  But the photo gallery is one of the largest I've seen, with 120 high-resolution, magazine-quality photos (both hardcore and softcore).  There's a single reel of all of the interview segments, although I'm pretty sure that they are identical to the clips used in the actual movie (i.e. no new content).

The 21-minute behind-the-scenes video does give us glimpse of the production and some of the candid moments during the filming, using a very hip and unconventional approach.  Rather than the traditional documentary, this one is set to music and cut together with quick edits.  I think I would have preferred more interview footage and background on the production, but the featurette is a refreshing change of pace from the standard production documentary.

The best extra is the audio commentary track, featuring Georgia, Dee, and Michael Ninn.  Although it's hard to find and only covers the sex scenes, it's fascinating to hear Georgia's reactions to the movie (she is seeing the movie for the first time during the recording).  She gives a lot of insight into her state of mind during her debut scenes.  It's also very obvious that she's new to the business, often asking questions of Dee, who has been doing this for several years.  The mixing of the track is good enough that you can easily play the secondary audio track the first time you watch Becoming Georgia Adair.

A/V Quality:   If you've ever seen a modern-day Michael Ninn video, you'll be comfortable with the video quality. I say this because some people really don't like Ninn's creative style. Aside from using a lot of effects (added film grain, quick edits, different shutter rates, etc.), the video tends to favor reds and oranges more than most adult video. I think it works well given the artistic nature of the production.  My only problem with the audio is the domination of the music track--it competes with the production track to the point that only really loud screams and moans are heard over the music.  I'd rather either hear no production audio or a better balance between the two.

The Last Word:  I'm not sure exactly what my bottom line is on Becoming Georgia Adair.  Compared to the run-of-the-mill porno, this is much classier.  Certainly, Georgia is lucky to have such an elegant premiere project.  But on the other hand, this Ninn offering doesn't reach the level of sophistication of an Andrew Blake movie, nor does it have the explicitness to elevate it beyond the "artistic" genre.  I was hoping for more of a documentary format since Georgia's naiveté and freshness are the most compelling aspects of this DVD.  Hopefully she'll retain some of that as she gets fully into the pro ranks as one of Ninn Worx's contract stars.
