AGFA and Something Weird Video have put together an interesting Blu-ray release for Bat Pussy. In addition to the feature film, they have also included a softcore version of the hardcore film Too Much Loving under the name Robot Love Slaves. Neither film is overly good; Too Much Loving is better than Bat Pussy. Then again, it is hard to imagine any film being worse than Bat Pussy. Outside of being two bad, and quickly produced, adult movies from the beginning of the 1970s, there is no connection between the two films.

Some of the extras on the release relate to Bat Pussy and are discussed in that section. The rest of the extras don't relate to either of the feature films included on the release. There is the 1949 Coronet instructional film “Dating: Do's and Don'ts” directed by Ted Peshak. The film runs for 12 minutes and served as an instruction for coming of age males on how to properly date a woman. There is the 1964 industrial educational film “The Shop Lifter” written and directed by Herbert J. Leder. The 20-minute film served as a film shown to new hires at retail companies on how to spot shoplifters. There is also an odd two-minute piece “A Trip to the Storefront Theater,” which shows a couple going to an old storefront adult theater intermixed with portions of an old black and white loop featuring a woman having sex with a guy in a werewolf mask.

The fact that the adult film that is generally considered to be the worst adult film ever made was, most likely, not a product of either Bob Kirk or Edward D. Wood, Jr., will probably surprise many readers. It is the anonymously directed Bat Pussy that holds that title; touted as the first adult film parody, the original title of Bat Pussy was recently found out to be The Adventures of Bat Pussy and the film was shot in Texas. The known history of the film is a well-used theatrical print was found in the 1990s in the Paris Theater in Memphis Tennessee that was missing the title cards. Mike Vraney ended up naming the film Bat Pussy. Strangely, since the film was unearthed in the 90s, no one has come forward saying, “Let me tell you about this little film I was a part of,” making most of the history of the film prior to being found in the 90s unknown.

When this reviewer states that Bat Pussy is a bad film, this isn't something that the viewer should take lightly. Bat Pussy is not a film you will want to view alone, or with anyone you ever actually want to have sex with. There is nothing at all erotic about Bat Pussy. The sex scenes, if the viewer can call them that, consist only of oral sex, toys, and hands. There isn't any visible vaginal or anal penetration in the film; in fact, it appears that the actor playing Buddy never actually manages to achieve an erection once during the film. The sex scenes are composed of awkward cuts of the actress playing Sam trying to blow Buddy's limp penis, Buddy pretending he is having sex with Dora Dildo, Buddy playing with Sam's pussy looking like he is trying to rip open a letter, and the like. In all honesty, the viewer is left wondering if anyone in the cast — or on the production side — had ever actually had sex before.

The story for the film is that Buddy (Wayne) wants to emulate some photos in Screw magazine with his wife Sam. He then decides he wants to photograph her beaver for the magazine prompting Dora Dildo's, aka Bat Pussy, pussy to twitch as it does whenever anyone is going to make a fuck film in Gotham City. Dora Dildo then travels to Buddy and Sam's place on a hopper ball, apparently the only means of transportation she has available, to put an end to what is about to happen without her.

The bulk of the film is taken up by Buddy and Sam's sex scene, again if the viewer can call it that, which mostly consists of footage of Buddy and Sam berating each other and very little footage of Sam trying to get Buddy sexually excited and Buddy trying to mutilate Sam (Seriously, this reviewer doesn't really know what else to call it.). It takes over half of the film for Dora Dildo to show up at Buddy and Sam's, at which point the sex doesn't get much better.

The technical side of the film is as abysmal as the sex scenes are. The film is filled with choppy editing. The crew can be heard in the background coughing and the like. The sound will cut out when the cast looks toward the camera, obviously getting direction from the director on how to go forward with the berating and attempted coitus. What actually is odd is that whoever made Bat Pussy seemed to think they were actually making a film. The time was taken to shoot Dora Dildo hopping on her hopper ball to Buddy and Sam's and there is even a spot where she stops a mugging in a park.

There is no way that this reviewer can recommend Bat Pussy to anyone. The entire film is bad from beginning to end. There are literally no redeeming qualities to this film. Watch at your own risk.

AGFA and Something Weird Video have done a great job with their Blu-ray release of Bat Pussy. Bat Pussy was shot on film and AGFA has used a 2K scan of the only known existing 16mm theatrical print of Bat Pussy for this release. Bat Pussy is presented in the Academy aspect ratio of 1.33:1 in 1080p. Bat Pussy looks really good on this release. There are the expected print damage and artifacts along with grain. The image has nice fine detail and the colors in the film look beautiful.

Bat Pussy is presented with an English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 monaural audio track. There are pops present in the audio track, however, the audio sounds surprisingly good. The dialog in the film is clear and easy to understand at all times.

There are only a few extras on the release that relate to Bat Pussy. There is a feature-length commentary track with Lisa Petrucci and Tim Lewis from Something Weird Video, Joseph Ziemba and Sebastian del Castillo from AGFA, and Annie Choi from Bleeding Skull! Since the history of the film prior to Something Weird Video's acquisition of the film is still unknown, there is little real information contained within the commentary, however, the five do seem to be having fun watching Bat Pussy. There is also a booklet that contains two essays. “I Saved Bat Pussy” by Mike McCarthy, who found the theatrical print in the Paris Theater in Memphis, Tennessee, and “Bat Pussy, I Love You” by Lisa Petrucci, that goes over Something Weird Video and Mike Vraney's history with the film.

Robot Love Slaves is a retitle by Mike Vraney of the 1971 hardcore film Too Much Loving, a science fiction feature film. Robot Love Slaves was obviously a cheaply, and quickly, made adult film with a plot that takes rather long pauses from the story to force in sex scenes that don't fit in with the actual story that well. The sex scenes that seem forced into the film feature cast members that aren't in the portions that do fit in with the story giving the viewer the feeling they were shot for another film that was never completed and shoehorned into this one.

The plot for Robot Love Slaves is that Clark's wife Marge is suffering from a broken vertebra that has paralyzed her from the waist down so she and Clark are unable to make love. In reality, she is having an affair with Doctor Dix and faking the condition in an attempt to get Clark's $5 million inheritance. Secretly, Clark has been working in the basement on creating robot love slaves and ends up creating Rhoda, and several other models of robot love slaves, for his and other people's pleasure.

The actual plot is slowly dolled out throughout the scant runtime of the film in an effort to seem like there is more to the actual plot than there really is. Many of the sex scenes in the film, as previously mentioned, don't seem to have been made for Robot Love Slaves. They are fit into the film with narration explaining that one of the participants is one of the other models of sex robots that Clark has made and that he has sent them out to a location for testing. The end result is that any viewer that goes into Robot Love Slaves caring about the plot will be completely disappointed.

The sex scenes themselves are missing from the print included on this release so it is impossible for this reviewer to rate them. The softcore scenes that are presented in this release are disappointing since they seem to just be the edited down hardcore scenes meaning there really isn't much to them at all.

Not only is the plot in the film rudimentary but the production details are as well. Some effort was put into the sets for the portions that were actually shot for Robot Love Slaves, but not a whole lot. The end result is that Robot Love Slaves just comes across as cheap and rushed from beginning to end. There isn't much reason to seek this film out at all.

AGFA and Something Weird Video have done a disappointing job with their Blu-ray release of Robot Love Slaves. Robot Love Slaves was shot on film and AGFA have used a 2K scan of a 16mm theatrical print for this release. Unfortunately, the print used for this release is missing the title cards and is the edited softcore version of the film, not the complete hardcore version. Robot Love Slaves is presented in the Academy aspect ratio of 1.33:1 in 1080p. The print used for the release is a heavily worn and beat up print that probably isn't up to the quality that ought to be memorialized on Blu-ray. There are heavy print damage and artifacts during the presentation along with some jumps. There is also the expected grain in the image. The colors in the film do look very good. Robot Love Slaves is very watchable, however, given the poor quality of the print, it would have been just as good on a DVD instead of a Blu-ray.

Robot Love Slaves is presented with an English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 monaural audio track. The audio track isn't bad but does suffer from some issues. There are pops and crackles throughout the film. The bigger issue is that there are sections of dialog missing due to jumps in the film, resulting in the dialog at some points impossible to discern.

AGFA hasn't included any title-specific extras on this release.

Bat Pussy is not a good adult film by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, calling Bat Pussy an adult film is likely even a stretch since there is nothing erotic about the film. Bat Pussy would honestly be better as birth control than as an arousal aide. The only purpose in life that Bat Pussy actually serves is to be used for a Mystery Science Theater 3000 style get together where one has a bunch of people together to endlessly mock the film. As a result, it is impossible to recommend Bat Pussy to any sane person. Robot Love Slaves is a rather poorly made film as well with few, if any, redeeming qualities. There is no real reason to need to see Robot Love Slaves either. AGFA has created as close to a definitive version that one will ever see for Bat Pussy with an excellent presentation on the Blu-ray. Robot Love Slaves is disappointing however with a rather worn and beaten print of the softcore version of the film.
