Initial Expectations: I’ve heard good things about this series so I have pretty high hopes for this one.

Initial Reaction: It’s another fun and pretty hot installment.

Audio /Video Quality: The audio is mostly clear and well balanced, although there is a little bit that appears to be dubbed. The opening scene is a bit out of balance, with the background noises creeping into the foreground a bit much. The video has a soft touch that helps give the movie and artistic feel. It reminds me a lot of the look of many classic adult films that have found their way onto DVD. The lighting is nicely done, and brings in a few realistic shadows without overpowering them.

Music: The music is nicely balanced and has a decent variety. There’s plenty of porno music here, but it brings in other touches so that it doesn’t feel too stereotypical.

Menus: The menus are fairly simple, but nicely done for when the DVD was made. The main menu has a little animation blended with a still, and the chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and the title for the scene.

The Feature: Barely Legal is a collection of unrelated sex scenes. Each scene has a title screen to let you know who directed it, followed by a nice little setup sequence that’s narrated by one of the girls in the scene. From there on, it’s hot sex with eighteen year old girls.

Adriana Sage starts Hawaiian Rose out with Voodoo and Joey Ray after a little pee and diddling. They work each other over orally before Adriana squats down on Voodoo’s cock. She rides him while sucking Joey, and then lets each of them fuck her ass reverse cowgirl style. She also takes a pair of double penetrations before taking their guy goo on her face. It’s a pretty good scene, but Adriana seems a bit mechanical through much of it. She puts in some good energy at the start, but by the end of the scene it really looks like her butt is dragging. I’ve really liked what I’ve seen from Adriana in the past, but I think this is one of the worst performances I’ve seen from her.

Sex in Any Language has Katalin and Sandy, two blonde Hungarian foreign exchange students, finding company in each others arms as well as a few other body parts. Sandy hasn’t been with a girl before, so Katalin leads her through it, gently kissing her as she works her way around Sandy’s body. She moves on to give Sandy a severe tongue lashing. The two girls look so similar that I’m not even sure if Sandy returned the favor. I just kind of watched with glazed eyes full of pleasure. It’s a softer scene, but does a great job of satisfying anybody’s sweet tooth with plenty of eye candy.

Short Order Cock has waitress Layla Jade getting a piece of meat from black cook Billy D. after he closes down the restaurant early. He tongue and fingers Layla’s ass before she devours his fudgesicle. Layla slides her pussy over his pole, and lets him fuck her pussy in several positions before taking him in her ass. Finally, Layla directs Billy’s ball blast into her mouth, and recoils as it hits the back of her mouth. It’s a pretty good scene, but the camera angles look a little off at times, not quite revealing as much as I’d like them to. Layla gets into it very good, however, and helps the scene past some of its faults.

Deanna High goes to Doctor Dale DaBone in Doctor Doctor for a checkup so she can go on the pill. She pees in the cup for Dr. Dale, and then spreads herself out on his desk before calling him back in. Dale tries to get away at first, but finds himself unable to resist after Deanna pulls him in and starts sucking his cock. Dale returns the favor, and then breaks out a condom since Deanna isn’t on any birth control. It’s a great way to bring a rubber into the scene, and its something I wish more companies would figure out how to do. Dale nails Deanna as she sits on the examination table as well as bending over it and letting her ride him in the cowgirl positions. Deanna finishes things up taking a very impressive facial, and doesn’t shy away from it in the least. It’s a pretty hot scene with nice chemistry and energy. Deanna plays the young angle very well, and it helps the scene work very well.

Finally, Cheap at Any Price has Jeanie Rivers following her sister to a cheap motel to find out that her sister’s a hooker. She intercepts her sister’s call the next night, and takes her sister’s place when Jon Dough calls her again. He’s initially upset because Jeanie isn’t the girl he ordered, but he quickly changes his mind when he sees what she brings to the party. They exchange oral favors before spooning and fucking doggie and cowgirl styles. Finally, she asks him to come in her mouth, a request he soon after grants. It’s a pretty good scene, and Jeanie Rivers nicely shows why she quickly attracted a fan base who wanted to see much, much more of her.

Barely Legal 4 is a nicely done vignette feature. The scenes all have the same theme, that of young girls, but they vary the subject enough to make each scene feel unique as well as keeping them having a fun feel. Granted, It’s pretty clear that more than a couple of the girls are well over eighteen, but they still look young and know how to play it. There are a few faults to the feature, but for a barely legal themed movie, it does the genre right!

Extras: The slide show lasts about two minutes with about six seconds per nice looking snapshot. There’s also web links, a trailer for Hustler XXX, and a ten minute behind the scenes featurette. The featurette focuses mostly on the scene between Adriana Sage, Voodoo, and Joey Ray, but there’s also a bit of the other scenes. You get to see a little of the scenes being shot, but most of the featurette focuses on the cast interacting with each other and director Clive McLean. It’s a very nice behind the scenes featurette, especially considering the length of it.

Overall: Currently, most of the Barely Legal series can be found online for between $18 and $26 with many stores offering them for around $20. This is a pretty fair price for what you get here. The movie is fun and has a nice variety with some good sex. The technical aspects aren’t as good as I’ve come to expect from Hustler, but this is one of their earlier titles so I think they might have been trying to get the kinks out a bit here. Despite being an earlier release, there’s some nice extras here to check out.

Note to Hustler: It’s great to see how far you’ve come, even though you came out of the gate swinging!
