Bad Wives is a remake, by writer and director Adam Christopher, of Paul Thomas' 1997 classic adult film of the same name. Remaking Bad Wives, as anyone who has talked with Adam Christopher, has been a dream project of his for many years now; Adam Christopher even received the approval of Paul Thomas to remake his classic adult film. Bad Wives is the most ambitious project of Adam Christopher to date.

Adam Christopher had a rocky start in the adult film industry. He has had some great ideas in the past but had problems getting his vision correctly to the screen. He has mostly worked with making modern adult parody movies, of which his last one Porno Things was his best. Bad Wives is, to the best of this reviewers' knowledge, Adam Christopher's first original feature adult movie.

This reviewer isn't opposed to remakes at all, as long as there is a reason for the remake. This reviewer doesn't want to see a remake that is the original movie all over again. The original movie has already been made. This reviewer wants to see changes to the original when watching the remake. Happily, Adam Christopher has not just made Paul Thomas' original Bad Wives all over again. Adam Christopher has made many changes to the movie and put his stamp on his version, giving it a reason to exist.

The basic story for Bad Wives will sound familiar to those who have seen Paul Thomas' original. Tracey Jo (Alura Jenson) is turning 40 years old and having trouble coping with her age, who is married to Guy (Brad Newman) and has become an alcoholic due to Guy; her friend Elizabeth (Edyn Blair) is married to Steve (Brock Doom) and has become a drug abuser due to Steve. The two run into mysterious bartender Roy (Adam Christopher), who has a rundown empty bar. Roy helps the two get revenge against their husbands.

The biggest issue with Bad Wives is that the story could have used some work. There isn't anything at all wrong with the story idea nor with the changes that Adam Christopher has made in this version. The issue with the story is that it feels very rushed. The movie could have used an additional half hour of plotted material in addition to what is already in the movie.

Adam Christopher has done a good job casting the movie. The cast does a great job with their roles, both the sexual portions and the non-sexual portions. The sex scenes themselves are very well-done and enjoyable to watch. Eddie Wood, Betty Black, and Joe Filippone all have fun cameos at the end of the movie. One issue with the casting though is the lack of extras in the movie. There are some places where the lack of extras is very noticeable.

For the most part, Bad Wives was nicely shot by Chris King. Oddly, there are some out of focus shots that seem like they should be in focus, like most of the scenes with Eddie Wood, Betty Black, and Joe Filippone. There are other out of focus scenes that work very well, such as the opening footage in the supermarket. There are a few overly bright scenes as well.

Adam Christopher has utilized good sets and locations for Bad Wives. The office set looked a little sparse, and the bar set really could have used some extras; however, the sets work well for the movie. There are a little bit of hokey unneeded special effects at the end of the movie. The hokey special effects do reflect to some hokey special effects in the original; however, Adam Christopher could have done something better for this version.

Is Adam Christopher's Bad Wives as good as Paul Thomas' was? No; however, in all honesty, it would be quite a feat for any director to surpass Paul Thomas' Bad Wives. Adam Christopher's Bad Wives is still fun viewing. Adam Christopher has made some neat changes to the original, and as long as one doesn't go in expecting Paul Thomas' Bad Wives, Adam Christopher's Bad Wives makes for a fun watch.

The edition of Bad Wives screened was a digital screener provided by Creation of Adam Productions. As such, there may be differences between the screened version and the release version. Creation of Adam has done a good job with their release of Bad Wives; Bad Wives was shot digitally and is presented in the anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1 in 1080p. There weren't any noticeable issues whatsoever with the video quality, and the colors in the movie look beautiful.

Bad Wives is presented with an English Stereo audio track. The only issue with the sound quality is that there are times when the dialog level can dip low causing the dialog to be hard to hear. Other than that one issue, the audio quality is good. There is a low hiss during some portions of the movie.

Creation of Adam didn't supply any extras for review; however, there is an announced DVD coming later in October that is going to have behind the scenes footage, outtakes, and an interview with Paul Thomas and Steven St. Croix, among other extras.

Bad Wives is Adam Christopher's remake of Paul Thomas' 1997 classic adult film of the same name. Adam Christopher's remake keeps the basic story from Paul Thomas' film; however, Adam Christopher has made some changes so that one isn't watching the same movie with different cast members. Adam Christopher's version of Bad Wives isn't as good as Paul Thomas' version, but then again Paul Thomas' version would be tough to beat; this doesn't mean that Adam Christopher's Bad Wives is bad, because it isn't. The movie makes for fun viewing and is recommended.
