In the early 70s, there were a multitude of adult films that were termed whitecoaters. Whitecoaters were adult films masquerading as educational films to get around censorship laws. Aphrodisiac!: The Sexual Secret of Marijuana, one of these early whitecoater films, is a fake documentary that talks about the secret sexual power that lies within pot. The film uses a combination of vignettes, footage of “doctors,” stock footage, and interviews with people on the street to present the “educational material” that makes up the film.

While attempting to sound like a real documentary on the subject, the film is nothing more than a reason to show the viewer sex scenes. When it comes to the sex scenes, Aphrodisiac!: The Sexual Secret of Marijuana is an oddity. The film has a cross of softcore footage with hardcore footage but not very much of the hardcore footage. Even in the scenes that feature hardcore footage there is very little, most of those scenes are composed of mostly softcore material.

While Aphrodisiac!: The Sexual Secret of Marijuana features an assortment of good early 70s adult film stars, nothing on Earth could have saved this train wreck of a film. While there are some moments of amusement within the film, there aren't enough to make it worth viewing. The sex scenes aren't well done and don't provide a reason to watch the film either.

Impulse Pictures has done a good job with their release of Aphrodisiac!: The Sexual Secret of Marijuana. Aphrodisiac!: The Sexual Secret of Marijuana is presented in the academy aspect ratio of 1.33:1 in 480p. The print used has seen better days and sports print damage (heavy in some places), grain, artifacts, and jumps. Colors are usually good although there are some places where the film looks overly red or overly white. There are also a few places where the color appears to be muted. The image isn't amazing but it definitely falls within the watchable range.

Aphrodisiac!: The Sexual Secret of Marijuana is presented with an English Dolby Digital 2.0 monaural audio track. The audio track isn't bad and is mostly serviceable. Like the image, the audio was clearly heavily damaged in some places and contains some jumps. Dialog is mostly clear and easy to understand except in a couple of heavily damaged spots.

Impulse Pictures hasn't included any extras on this release.

Aphrodisiac!: The Sexual Secret of Marijuana is an early adult film masquerading as a documentary about pot. The documentary is completely made up and does offer the viewer any real information. The sex scenes aren't done very well either. Overall, Aphrodisiac!: The Sexual Secret of Marijuana isn't a film that is worth watching. Impulse Pictures has done a good job with the release but the print is rather beat up that causes some video and audio issues.
