REVIEW:
I've had my eye on Jonni Darkko ever since he joined Digital Sin, and I've found his work quite compelling.  In fact, I'd even venture to say that Darkko has had a very strong and lingering influence on the direction and overall flavor of Digital Sin's all sex offerings even now that he's been lured away by Evil Angel's siren song.  In one sense, he's interested in what everyone else is interested in--hardcore sex with all the crazy trappings.  At the same time however, he brings a sort of subtle sophistication to it all by offering the eye of a trained photographer, and the patience to find a sort of glam-tinted beauty to the rough and tumble world of hardcore pornography.  I have to say, it's a very difficult phenomenon to explain, and for me, his work operates on a level that goes beautifully beyond where most pornographers stop.  The sex itself is hard and energetic, the girls are carefully presented, and the settings are comfortable and pretty, but there's something else as well.  Whereas most sex scenes of this type have a sort of jagged edge about them that, if not carefully wielded can leave me bleeding a little inside at the scene's conclusion, Darkko works with a fine, sharp blade, and a very sure and steady hand.  Somehow, at it's best, Darkko's work can actually make me feel exhilarated about what I've just watched, even while he gleefully shaves another little piece of my soul away for the devil's safe keeping.

Dasha, Mark Ashley, Tommi Gun

Many people will recognize Dasha as one of Vivid's famous contract girls.  She's a blonde from the Czech Republic with a very distinctive smile (although it's not much in evidence in this scene) and a body that seems like it was simply built for fucking.  She has a pair of well crafted, but crafted nonetheless, tits, strong tight legs, and the hardened look of a stripper about her.  I have to say, she's damned attractive, but I suppose my preference is more for the girl next door (see Tiana below!).  After a nicely captured tease sequence, Dasha is greeted by two strong, silent types and they're off to the races.  The scene starts out in very pussy-centric fashion, but fear not gentle anal-hounds, Dasha's ass does get duly penetrated by the time the scene wraps up.  It ends with one pop on her pussy and another on her hypnotic tits, and I must say, Dasha has the gorgeous look of sexpot-ly goodness the entire time.  The camera work is exemplary, even if the sex is a bit on the unremarkably typical side--at least typical for Darkko, which by most standards is pretty darn good.  I liked this scene, but there's more fun to be had later, with girls that I take much more of a shining to than Dasha.  To each his own, I reckon.

Ariana Jollee, Zenza

Ariana is much more my speed.  This one starts out in a much less elevated, but no less beautiful fashion, as Ariana uses her delightfully wicked charms to tease the camera with both words and actions.  After a bit of dirty talk, and a little stripping, Zenza joins her and they both retire to a bathtub, where Ariana receives a playful milk enema.  I know, it sounds strange, and hey...  it IS strange, but somehow it's cool at the same time.  This scene sort of works backwards in a sense, because Ariana offers Zenza her ass long before he takes advantage of her pussy.  It's a beautiful sight to behold, and lots of intense but lighthearted fun and sexual chemistry characterizes the whole scene--at least from my perspective.  Ariana doesn't have the hard-edged sophistication and glamour that Dasha brings to the table, but her accessible fuckability is precisely why I like her better.  There's less pretense, and more feeling in her performance and after she takes Zenza's load on her face, I'm left with that magic exhilaration that only Darkko's devilry can conjure.

Tory Lane, Jerry

Tory is a pretty brunette dressed in exceedingly yummy fashion.  She has large breasts that poke out above her tight corset.  Down below, she sports a great pair of almost fetishy, leather or vinyl slut-panties, and a pair of sheer, black stockings to top it all off.  Tory's performance is a bit too, well, camera happy for my tastes.  She seems to be more interested in giving it up to the camera than giving it up to her partner.  At times she has a femdom vibe, and at other times a more docile one.  At times she's showily aggressive, and at others she aggressively submissive.  It's just kind of all over the map and incongruent, and to me, her performance doesn't come from a place of being in the moment as much as it comes from a place of being in a porn video.  Attractive as she was, I was decidedly uninterested in Tory for these reasons.  It's a good vaginal and oral scene, with good camera work, and far be it for me to doubt the veracity of Tory's performance, but for my tastes it's the weakest scene in the movie.

Tiana Lynn, Mark Ashley

What the fuck is up with this Mark Ashley guy?  I need his job for a day.  Dasha, Tiana Lynn and Missy Monroe all in one movie--I'd never survive it, but damned if I wouldn't die trying.  My own misplaced jealousy aside, Missy is a cute blonde who looks fittingly yummy here with a pair of black fishnets, and some beautiful, jiggly little tits which she shows off to nice effect at the opening of the scene.  She teases the camera a little, and then gets into an elevator.  When the elevator doors open, she's busy sucking on Mark Ashley's cock.  The sex here is good--full of some gaggy deep-throat action, and some potty mouth sex talk, courtesy of Missy.  It's all in good fun, even if a smidge on the hammy side at times, and the action is energetic.  Eventually Missy's ass gets involved in the festivities, and although she's not the most outrageously beautiful girl in porn, she does have a special quality that's hard to ignore.  The camera work is par for the Darkko course, and after Mark releases his load all over her ass and it dribbles down her shaved pussy like a little white waterfall, I'm just about ready to kick his over-sexed butt into next week.

TO SUM UP:
There's definitely something about the environment that Darkko creates on his shoots that's awfully unique.  It has all the intensity and energy of the hardest porn out there, but somehow manages to be filtered of a lot of the malice.  Couple that with some very nice photographic sensibilities, and his work is really quite refreshing.  My favorite scenes in the movie are those with the girls next door.  Tiana, Ariana, and Missy, in that order, really bring an accessible fire to Darkko's already admirable directing efforts.  Dasha is plenty gorgeous and Tory is no slouch either, and I imagine for people of different tastes, those scenes will just as easily rank as the best on the disc.  In any case, this is good, solid porn.  Where it might lack for my own tastes in that special spark of undefinable umph, it more than makes up for with aesthetic sensibilities and strong performances that transcend most porn of its kind.  I'm thinking that Darkko's brand of new wave witchery is here to stay.  He has a vision, and unless I'm wrong, I think a lot of his contemporaries, besides those he left behind at Digital Sin, are going to start following his lead.

EXTRAS:
There is a rather lengthy (50 minutes) behind the scenes segment, that features extensive footage of both the interview, photo-shoot, and camera behind the camera variety for four of the scenes.  It's a nice way to get a feel for Tiana, Missy, Ariana, and Tory before they fully immerse themselves into "porn star mode", and there's a nice impromptu interview with Darkko as well..  Also included is Evil Angel's standard slew of extras:  a cumshot recap menu, a cast list by scene, photo gallery, and filmographies.
