Initial Expectations: Nic Cramer has been a completely mixed bag from what I’ve seen, normally being more bad than good, but the cast still makes me have a little bit of hope.

Initial Reaction: I really wish Nic Cramer could figure out how to work a decent video camera and I wonder if he’s colorblind.

Who Should Watch It : Couples, people who like unnatural colors, and fans of anybody in the cast

Audio /Video Quality: The audio quality is normally pretty good. Almost all of the audio is clear and well balanced, but when some of the performers get loud it starts to crackle a little like the audio was maxed out. Surprisingly, I was impressed with Angel Dust’s video quality as soon as it started, which is rare for Nic Cramer. I was impressed because it’s in widescreen. I’ve only seen a few scenes done in widescreen, and although I didn’t think it mattered at first, I’m starting to like it a little more. Unfortunately, the picture is fairly grainy since Mr. Cramer shoots on film, and the mics and crew are sometimes caught in the edge of the picture. Sadly, Mr. Cramer is still obsessed with holiday colors. In Skin Deep we got a little bit of Christmas with lots of red and green. This time its Halloween with a slight orange tint to the feature. Luckily, the proportions stay about the same and the color is close enough to flesh that it just accents things a little and doesn’t interfere like it does in many of his features. It also comes out just for the sex scenes. I guess this is supposed to create a little mood, but all it made me do was wonder if the Great Pumpkin was going to join in on any of the scenes. If lucky, he’d even bring Mr. Cramer a decent video camera to use in his future films.

Music: There isn’t music in every scene. When there is music it’s slightly eerie and sits very nicely in the background. I barely noticed it was even there.

Menus: The menus have a nice little bit of animation and the music gives the feature a little air of suspense.

The Feature: Angel Dust revolves around phone sex. It’s also the name Tera Patrick goes by as a phone sex operator. She’s stuck with a loser of a boyfriend (Randy Spears) who’s constantly unemployed and bitches about her job. She wants out, but doesn’t have the money to go out on her own. When one of the other operators (Melody Love) talks about trying new things, Angel gets a little more into her job and starts doing house calls.

Salina Del Ray comes over to visit Mickey G. in his phone sex fantasy. She crawls up to work over his cock and then turns around for a 69. The widescreen aspect of the feature really works well here, allowing you to see almost all the action. He fucks her in a couple positions with Salena never taking her dress off. Angel Dust does a good job of mixing fantasy and reality. The scenes include both the fantasies of the callers as well as what happens in the real world. It’s a decent idea and one that’s done pretty well. If it’s a fantasy, you only see the guy on the phone in the beginning and end of the scene rather than showing him talking between positions or interrupting the scene in other ways. The girls are also a little more vocal which fits very well with the phone sex theme. Although the technical qualities bring it down quite a bit, it’s still worth looking at.

Extras: Short bios are included for both Tera Patrick and Melody Love. They don’t do much beyond showing you the girl and telling you they like to fuck, if you didn’t know that already. The photo gallery contains a nice mix of about forty snapshots and full screen photos that look very good. Overall: Currently, Angel Dust can be found online for between $14.50 and $22 with only one store offering it for under about $20. If you’re a Tera fan, you have to at least rent this one and I’d even be tempted to recommend buying it at the low end. Sadly, the picture is fairly typical Nic Cramer and there isn’t much for extras.
