The Short Story

Initial Expectations: Andrew Blake can make a darn hot movie. I’m hoping this is one of them.

Initial Reaction: It’s pretty, but also pretty shallow.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody who wants art and beauty over hearing cocks splashing in and out of any available orifice

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody with a list of movies they hate because they’re “artsy fartsy foreign bullshit” (yes, Blake is American, but his style is definitely artsy fartsy and might be considered foreign)

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are nicely done. The audio is clear and well balanced, or at least it seems to be. It’s kind of hard to tell with how the music dominates the audio. The video is shot on film, so there’s a bit of grain as well as a lot of depth. It nicely mixes together color and black and white footage, and makes great use of lighting. This is a very good looking and sounding film.

Music: The music normally dominates the audio, but ends up working for the movie. It has a very sexy new age feel that is unique and very enjoyable.

Menus: To call the menus extremely basic is about as nice a thing as can be said about them. The main menu has a still of the cover and the chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a title of the scene along, along with one still per menu full of selections.

The Feature

Unleashed collects several scenes that appear to revolve around Laura Palmer and Selena. The girls each get a sensual gift, and sensual things follow.

Scene 1 - Selena, Laura Palmer and Colt Steel

Blonde Laura and redhead Selena start things out in various poses diddling themselves. They each end up in a skimpy and sexy outfit, and each open a small gift which contains a small glass dildo. They diddle themselves in different rooms before running off and magically changing outfits. They pose a bit before each lets Colt work his tongue across their body. This is a pretty good opening scene. As usual with Drake it’s extremely artistic, and the action is captured beautifully. The two sequences are nicely edited together, and at times almost feels like it’s a competition. It’s a good feeling scene, and had some decent heat.

Scene 2 - Misty Rain, Selena, and Shelby Stevens

Selena starts the second scene out watching Misty, looking about as virginal as she can in a pink and black apron with a pink hair bow and collar, and Shelby, who’s looking smoking hot in some blue and black fetishwear complete with long black gloves. Shelby admires Misty’s pierced tits before moving down to examine Misty’s pussy, and then lets Misty worship her feet and shoes. This is a pretty hot scene. I love the voyeuristic aspect it has at the start as well as the growing tension between the girls. Shelby is nicely dominant through the scene, and Selena and Misty work extremely well together under her. My only real problem with the scene is the ending, as it felt like the girls weren’t even close to being done.

Scene 3 - Laura Palmer and John Decker

Laura and John start things out in a fancy dress and a tux (respectively), looking like they’re ready for a high class night on the town. He lights her cigarette as they make their way to an elegant couch. Laura lies back and lets John play with her pussy and tits as well as teasing him by sucking his thumb. Scene 4 - Lea Martini and Bruno Sx

Lea starts things out in a bright yellow shirt with black and white stockings, black panties, and a black top hat with a red band. Scene 5 - Rebecca Lord and Laura Palmer

Laura, in a yellow outfit, and Rebecca, in a pink outfit, hook up by a pool next to a building. This is an okay scene. The artistic effect seemed to take over a bit much here, and it killed some of the sexuality of the scene for me. It also seemed lopsided by not having Rebecca give at all. This scene didn’t work too well for me.

Scene 6 - Asia Carrera, Monique DeMoan, Vince Voyeur, and Laura Palmer

Laura starts out in a black and white outfit with her glass dildo watching Asia, in a latex outfit. This scene is okay. I love how it starts, but the ending left me seriously wanting. It felt like it was only the first half of the scene, and I definitely wanted more. This scene has some good heat, but doesn’t make it nearly as far as it might due to only seeming like it’s half there.

Scene 7 - Laura Palmer and Selena

Laura and Selena meet walking across a bridge in a pond. They have a little catfight in the middle, and their toys seem to have a lot to do with it. They kiss a little, and the scene quickly ends almost as fast as it began.

This is a very nice sequence, but unfortunately if you blink you might miss it.

Scene 8 - Jami Dion and Lea Martini

Brunette Jami starts things out waiting in what looks like a large lobby. She’s joined soon after by Lea, who gives her tits a little loving before stripping back a little and making her way down Lea’s fantastic natural body to admire her pussy and ass. Scene 10 - Laura Palmer and Selena

Laura starts out the final scene in black boots and a white latex dress with black accents strutting her stuff around a room and staircase. She makes her way to Selena, who’s looking plenty fine in a black skirt, tube top, and hat, and goes right to work tonguing her twat and giving it a little extra attention with her fingers. This is an okay final scene. It doesn’t have near the chemistry of the previous scene, but it keeps things looking great and moving along nicely. The main thing that works for it is that it finishes things up in a similar style as it begins the movie.

Unleashed is an okay movie that definitely won’t be for everybody. If you want passionate or pounding sex, it probably won’t be for you. Yes, there is a bit of it here, but that never seems to be the main focus. The main focus is on women as objects of beauty. At that, it does a pretty darn good job. Andrew Blake is well known for gorgeous photography, and almost every scene here looks like a beautiful photo spread unfolding. Unfortunately, that artistic feeling also kills the sex a fair amount of the time. Unleashed is beautiful, but often feels shallow and passionless.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Studio A’s DVDs can be found online for between about $17 and $28 with very few stores offering them for under $20. At that price, rent this one first unless you’re a big fan of Andrew Blake. The movie is extremely artistic and sometimes lacks sexually. The technical aspects are very well done for being shot on film, but there’s absolutely nothing here for extras. This is a movie that I think people will love or hate on a DVD that falls short as a hole.

Note to Studio A: You definitely have a great niche going for you with your style. A good movie, however, doesn’t make a good DVD. A little effort on your extras could go a long, long way here.
