The first scene, which looks to be shot in the late 1930's or early 1940's, runs 22 minutes and features a nun who comes home, undresses, and starts to use an old-fashioned coil vibrator. She's spied upon by a young man who then enters the room and the two get down to sinning. It's surprisingly explicit and has more in common with modern pornography than cheesecake erotica. The small-breasted brunette not only sucks the gentleman caller's cock, but she also rides him cowgirl in addition to taking him doggystyle and in the expected missionary position. The clarity of the scene is pretty good considering the age, but the camera does not capture the penetration in much detail. I was amused that not only did the stag film end with a cumshot, but it wrapped up with a cut to the couple sleeping peacefully and then the man helping the woman get dressed! The second scene is of much lower quality than the first and seems to be maybe a decade older. The woman in this scene, who has a very large mole on her cheek, is restless and masturbates in bed. We can barely make out what's going on with the poor, fuzzy footage, which plays at faster than life speed as most early motion pictures do. About the only thing that stands out is that she ends up giving head to two guys at the same time--can you imagine your granny doing that? Scene three is a housewife with a beehive hairdo and her husband having sex on the couch, ending with a creampie. The next scene is an incomplete clip from a threesome that starts out with as a girl-girl, followed by a guy joining in. The fifth selection is a little story where a woman pays for her tire repair by bedding the repairman. A possessed-looking, hairy-bushed lady gyrates on a vintage dildo before inviting a girlfriend over for some antique strap-on action. #7: A model American couple by day, porno couple by night (complete with money shot on the tummy). The eighth scene shows some clear cunnilingus that the woman enjoys--refreshing after all of the BJ-heavy reels. Rounding out the DVD are vintage clips of a fat woman, another stripping 40's gal, poolside solo play with a double-headed dildo, an anonymous stag film, and a 60's lesbian encounter. American Vintage 2 is not something you're likely to get aroused by (well, I suppose that depends on what you're turned on by, but still...), but a DVD you'd probably want to get if you're curious about vintage porn or need something for a gag gift or bachelor party. Twisted Transmissions has done the best job they could do with the antique material, and the only caveat I have is that since the DVD is a DVD-R instead of a pressed DVD, you should make sure your player can handle this format before you buy.

For
most porn videos, having 95-minutes' worth of fuzzy, scratched, black and white
footage with a music-only soundtrack would be a liability. But Twisted
Transmission's compilation of a dozen porn reels from 40+ years ago is
fascinating to watch despite the awful image quality. The short films of
American Vintage 2 are good examples of "stag films" or "smokers" -- the
type of erotica that our grandparents would have kept hidden in the attic or
under the bed.
