Fox Studios is finally doing something that I
have been pushing for for a while… releasing
older 80’s films on DVD. The first I got my
hands on is Afternooners, which is clearly
marketing its pre-condom nature on the cover.
Afternooners has 4 features, the first three of which are marked as being from 1982. Things start out with a little piece called “The Runner”. Actually it is a very long piece… this scene drags on for a half an hour! Anyway, some big beefy guy is standing naked in front of his window when a runner jogs by. He is invited up, and quickly gets down on his knees to service the beefy guy’s wiener. The beefy guy has a beautiful one, and it is a good thing, too, since we get to watch the runner suck on it for 20 minutes. After what seems like ages, the runner cums, but then continues to suck off the beefy guy. Eventually, the runner gets fucked up the ass doggy style (bareback, of course). Unfortunately, they stay in this position for far too long before the runner shoots 4 huge geyser shots of cum. After a little more fucking, the beefy guy finally unloads his spunk on the runner’s back. Don’t get me wrong, this scene is pretty good, it just drags on for far too long. If they could have cut it down to about 15 minutes, it would have been great.
Next up is “One Hot Afternoon” starring the three boys on the cover. Things start out with just the redhead and the brunette sucking each other off. Then the mustached guy sneaks in and joins the party. The three wind up on the couch for what looks to be the beginning of a great 3 way. Unfortunately, things don’t work out that way. All of a sudden, the mustache guy is gone, and the redhead is boning the brunette on the floor. Mustache man must have been getting some coffee or something, and he returns just in time to see the redhead bust his nut. The redhead now leaves, and after a little 69 action, mustache man fills the void in the brunette’s ass. About this time I noticed that the brunette has a very thick dick… too bad he bottomed only in this scene. Once again, the sex is pretty good, but damn it, when I see three men together in a sex scene, I expect a three way! What the heck is the point of having three guys if only two of them are on screen at the same time?
The third scene is a solo called “Cycle Tuff”. Our star has a very nicely defined body, a barely there mustache, and one of those tragic early 80’s hair dos. Basically, he just jacks off while rubbing his pecs and abs. We do get a glimpse of his sexy ass, but he doesn’t bend over for us, or finger himself or anything. His cumshot is truly amazing, though. There is something strange about the final scene. It is kind of like that Seseme Street game, “Which of these things is not like the other…”. It doesn’t have a title like the other three, the actors aren’t named, there is no date, there is no Fox Studios intro, and the lighting is way different. On top of that, both stars balls and assses are shaved bare. I didn’t think they did that in the 80’s? My guess is that this is just some later 80s pre-condom scene that Fox Studios had the rights to that they just added to the DVD because the other three scenes weren’t long enough. Anyway, the scene starts out with a horny redhead ordering up a masseuse. The masseuse sets up his table, the redhead jumps up on it, and they get to work. The masseuse goes right for the redhead’s ass, and starts kneading it like pizza dough. After a little sucking, the masseuse hops up on the table with his legs in the air and gets impaled by the redhead’s big one. We finally get a few good penetration shots here, but they just look strange. There is something about bareback sex and shaved asses that do not go good together.
Considering that most of the porn here is almost 20 years old, the video quality is pretty good. With the exception of the solo scene, there isn’t much graininess to the picture at all. As far as extras go, there is a photo gallery (which frustrated me for while until I realized that it is actually a slideshow, not a photo gallery) and previews for 4 other Fox Studios releases: Muscle Up, Thunderballs, The Diamond Stud, and Mass Appeal.
Afternooners is decent porn with one big problem: The main reason people buy 80’s porn is for bareback sex and oral cumshots. While there is bareback sex here, we don’t get many close-ups of it at all. And not a single scene had any oral cumshots! What a disappointment! To top it off, the running time is only 69 minutes. As is, I can’t really recommend Afternooners. If it was considerably cheaper, it might be worth a look, though.
