Initial Expectations: In my opinion, Nick Orleans is a highly under-rated director, and I always look forward to his features.

Initial Reaction: It’s one of the hottest movies I’ve seen from Adam & Eve in a long time and reminds me why I used to be so impressed with Nick Orleans’ movies

Audio /Video Quality: The audio is a bit mixed throughout the feature. It’s mostly clear, but it seems like more of the sex scenes are dubbed than are not. Luckily the non-sex portions synch very well. The video has a slightly soft and artistic feel that continues evenly to the edge of the screen. The artistic effect is helped out by varying degrees of lighting, with some scenes having a slight tint, shading, or overlighting.

Music: The music has a kind of sexy jazz feel, and the balance varies from resting nicely in the background and completely dominating the scene

Menus: The menus are nicely done. The main menu has some decent animation, while the chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a chapter number as well as letting you jump directly to the pop shot.

The Feature: After separating from her husband, Gina Ryder moves into a house with also divorced Taylor St. Clair and swinging single Ava Vincent. Nick Orleans’ After Midnight is one heck of a great adult movie. There’s a nice plot thread that runs through the entire feature, and it works great to set things up without ever feeling too heavy or too light. Much of this might be having Ava Vincent and Gina Ryder at the head of it, as nobody can match the naughty and corrupting look that Ava gets in her eye, while Gina plays the opposite end with shy and curious just as well. The sex is just as well done, and nicely mixes everything from solo scenes to oral to couples to group and anal. Pretty much anything you could want sexually is here, unless you think that the degradation of women is sexy. Yes, there’s some anal and group action here that isn’t your normal couples fare, but it’s done with such a natural feeling of ease and enjoyment that I think many couples might enjoy it even though it might not be quite what they’re looking for. Surprisingly, nobody outshines anybody else here, which makes the entire movie feel extremely well balanced and enjoyable from start to finish. The only thing I can really see people complaining about here is the style, which has a soft feel and some artistic lighting that might turn some people off. Regardless, After Midnight is a hot adult movie that’s definitely worth checking out!

Extras: Adam & Eve has put together a very nice selection of extras here. Trailers are included for A Wolf’s Tail, X Professionals, Whispering Hearts, Raging Lust, and A Devil’s Tail. The photo gallery contains over forty very nice looking snapshots. You can pick a photo from a selection of thumbnails and then blow it up to a much larger snapshot for a decent look at it. There’s also bios included for Taylor St. Clair, Ava Vincent, Gina Ryder, Herschel Savage, and Dale DaBone. Each bio includes a nice photo and a little personal information. There’s also website information, the Adam & Eve Sex Reel, bonus scenes, and a behind the scenes featurette.

The first bonus scene comes from Raging Lust and features Dale DaBone taking on Kristina Black and Dominica Leoni. Finally, the behind the scenes featurette lasts about fourteen minutes. Taylor St. Clair, Gina Ryder, and Zana each give a nice but short interview, but most of the focus is on the scenes being shot and a few quick comments from the stars. It’s a very okay behind the scenes featurette, but it doesn’t really add too much.

Overall: Currently, After Midnight can be found online for between $7 and $28 with many stores offering it for under $10. At $7 this should be on every porn lover’s shelf! Even at a much higher price, After Midnight would be well worth checking out.
