Initial Expectations: Adam & Eve Signature Series Vol. 1: Asia Carrera was a very well done compilation and I have no reason to expect anything different here.

Initial Reaction: It’s another very well done compilation that does a great job of showing Johnni as a person as well as a performer.

Audio /Video Quality: As with most any compilation, the audio and video quality varies according to the quality of the original feature. The interviews are very clear audio- wise, but have some borderline lighting. Ian, Johnni, and their surroundings are a little dark, but they’re still light enough to see everything clearly. The audio in the scenes is normally very good, but there are a few poor spots. The video ranges a lot more from one extremely grainy scene to some very clear scenes.

Music: The music varies according to the scene from classical to very sexy to typical porno music.

Review: Adam & Eve Signature Series Vol. 2: Johnni Black follows much the same format as Adam & Eve Signature Series Vol. 1: Asia Carrera . In this volume, Ian Daniels interviews Johnni Black between many of her scenes for Adam & Eve. It’s a very nice way to handle a compilation feature and gives a very good taste of the performer as a person. Throughout her interview Johnni shows a lot of care about her fans and their opinions. Johnni is very likeable and seems very natural as Ian interviews her. They cover things such as her life before porn, and how she got into the business. She’s currently doing a lot of dancing, so they talk about why she started dancing and some about her show. There’s a lot of the standard porno questions also such as her favorite positions, her favorite scenes and how she prepares for a scene, as well as her favorite performers and directors. Since Johnni has been married for quite a while, they also talk about how her marriage and her career affect each other. It’s very well done and ties in well with the scenes as they’re brought up. The scenes are well done and Ian and Johnni do a very good job of letting you know what movie the scene comes from and who’s in it.

The first scene comes from The Quick & The Hard with Randy Spears joining Johnni and Cheyenne Silver for a romp in one of the back shacks after luring him away from out front. It’s a very good group scene and there’s some very good chemistry between the three of them. Johnni and Cheyenne do a very good job of passing Randy back and forth so that everybody stayed happy, myself included. It’s better than a lot of other group scenes out there although the lighting is a little dark in the scene. Adam & Eve also did a very nice job of merging this into one scene as in the original movie it was part of three scenes going at the same time.

The second scene comes from the yet to released Appassionata, and pairs Johnni with Alex Sanders and Holly Body. I’m always interested to see anything from Appassionata after hearing how proud Asia Carrera is of it and I normally have high expectations for scenes from it. I was quite disappointed with this scene. The action is okay, but the technical aspects lack horribly. Some of the problems were caused with the location and timing of the scene. The action takes place at night on a picnic table outside a van. This isn’t the best of places to shoot a scene to say the least. There’s a lot of grain throughout the entire scene and there’s a blue tint to a lot of the scene. This scene might be better when seen with the rest of the movie. Johnni says that they’re supposed to be trailer trash in her lead in to the scene and the blue light may very well have been there on purpose due to a bug zapper or something of the like. I really wanted to like this scene and I did think that it was fairly hot, but the technical aspects really brought it down for me. It still isn’t low enough, however, that I’m not looking forward to seeing Appassionata on DVD.

The third scene comes from another unreleased movie, Sex Patrol , and pairs Johnni with Valentino and Brick Majors. The scene takes place in a police station and has a nice little lead in for the scene to let you know what’s happening in the movie, which seems like it’s a lot of fun. Brick and Valentino ‘interrogate’ Johnni with both of their nightsticks at once. It’s a very hot scene and the technical aspects are also very good. I hope that we’ll see Sex Patrol on DVD soon after watching this scene.

We return to The Quick & The Hard for the fourth scene with the all girl orgy involving Johnni, Cheyenne Silver, Anita Cannibal, Barrett Moore, and Shanna McCullough. I was a little disappointed in this scene due to some of the details again. The sex was okay but there were very few close-ups, which I like every now and then. There were also no toys, which I also enjoy but like that they were left out of this scene due to the time period. Finally, the music was overpowering and had a very seventies feel which didn’t fit with the scene. There’s a lot of talent in this scene but it just didn’t come together quite as well as it should have.

The next scene comes from Thrust and puts Steve Hatcher with Johnni. It’s a very average scene that should have been more than what it is. Steve is one of my favorite leading men and pairing him with Johnni should have made a top notch scene. Instead it’s a standard bedroom scene with anal sex.

A Winter’s Passion checks in next with Johnni having an orgy scene with Rebecca Lord, Michael J. Cox, Billy Glide, and Mia Ciccero (I think). It’s a decent orgy scene but it suffers a little from some of the normal problems with orgy scenes. It lacks some of the heat building through the scene due to jumping between couples. This scene doesn’t suffer as bad as many since most of the people don’t interact with each other too much. The bigger problem with the overall scene is the lighting is fairly inconsistent. It’s not really bad, but it differs enough through the scene that it catches your eye. It also has a scene that seems like it ties into the overall plot of the movie in the middle of the scene. It breaks things up and doesn’t belong there.

Thrust returns with Mark Davis’s scene with Johnny. It’s an okay scene but has horrible lighting. It’s also humorous as it appears to take place in an arcade on one of the flight games. Johnni also makes the scene amusing as she drops cheesy lines throughout the scene such as telling Mark to drop his bomb on her face. It makes the scene a little more fun that it probably should be.

Jonathan Morgan takes on Johnni next in a scene from Incognito where Johnni appears to play a grieving widow who’s found one way to move on with her life. It’s a short scene but one of the better scenes in the compilation. There’s some good chemistry and the technical aspects are pretty good. The lighting is very good but the distance shots are a little blurry. After watching this scene I really want to see the rest of Incognito.

Finally, there’s the new scene that was done for this release. Of course it pairs Johnni with Ian and it starts out fun. There’s no music to the scene but the audio is done well enough here that it doesn’t matter too much. Johnni and Ian work great with each other and this was one of the few scenes on the compilation where Johnni doesn’t do anal. The lighting continues to be a little dark, but it isn’t so dark that you have problems seeing what’s going on. It’s borderline lighting, but it’s on the right side of the border. All in all, it’s a very nice scene to end Adam & Eve Signature Series Vol. 2: Johnni Black with.

Extras: As with most other Adam & Eve releases, there’s some company and phone sex information as well as bios and some shots of the other signature girls. The bios are fairly basic and only give a little personal information of Johnni Black, Cheyenne Silver, Holly Body, and Mark Davis. There are also scenes for the other signature girls. I don’t know where Alexandra Silk’s scene comes from, but Asia Carrera’s scene is from My 2nd Love and Cheyenne Silver’s scene comes from Serenade . They’re all pretty good scenes and give a good reason to pick up the other volumes. Unlike most other DVDs there isn’t a photo gallery here. I’ve actually come to enjoy the photo galleries so I did miss it a little, but it isn’t a major loss.

Overall: Currently, Adam & Eve Signature Series Vol. 2: Johnni Black can be found online for between $10 and $23 with a couple stores offering it for under $15. If you’re a fan of Johnni, pick this one up. It does a great job of showing her as a person as well as a great sexual performer. It also offers several scenes which aren’t available on DVD elsewhere.

Note to Adam & Eve: This is a great way to do a compilation. I hope to see more of them in the future. I’ve heard that you’re readying Appassionata for DVD release. Please clean up the video quality if it is at all possible. I don’t remember the scene in Adam & Eve Signature Series Vol. 1: Asia Carrera being nearly this grainy so I hope it’s an isolated incident.
