A Sunday Afternoon Review

NOTE: This is an amateur video. Amateur and homemade movies don’t have the budget nor the resources of studio porn, and therefore rarely get close to the same quality technically. I’m rating this DVD on the same scale, but most homemade or amateur features would rarely make it above a 3 on the standard scale I use for studio porn for their technical aspects. The performers also aren’t normally the ‘glamour stars’ one expects from studio porn, and instead use people who look like somebody you might encounter in your day to day life. Finally, the camera work has a different feel, as it’s often shot from a tripod or with somebody who doesn’t have the technical training or experience of professional cameramen. That said, amateur and homemade features have a great charm to them, simple because the people in them are doing what they’re doing to have fun and because they enjoy it. All the things that separate them from studio porn contribute to that charm, I hope people will keep that in mind when checking out this review and not just look at the ratings as the ultimate word on this release. Since the technical aspects are normally lacking and there normally isn’t much for extras in amateur features, I’ve weighted my overall rating more heavily towards the sex than I do in most studio porn.

Note #2: This is one of the earlier releases from Pixie’s Emporium. They’ve been gradually reworking their earlier DVDs, so I would expect current versions of this release to be much better technically, with menus, a photo gallery, and some improved technical aspects. I’m going to rate this one as I see it, but want viewers to be aware that they will probably get a much better version of this DVD than I’m reviewing. Initial Expectations: I’ve enjoyed a lot of what I’ve seen from Pixie’s Emporium. I’m looking forward to this one.

Initial Reaction: There’s a few minor faults, but it’s still another winner.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting realistic looking people and chemistry

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting perfect technical aspects, an extremely long feature, or supermodel type performers and nasty sex

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: For amateur porn the technical aspects are very nicely done. The audio is clear and well balanced, and the only problem with it is a buzzing sound which I think was coming from the internet porn. The video is also pretty good. There’s a few remnants and soft focus blurs, but most of it is nicely done. The lighting is even and there’s barely any grain. The pans and zooms are done smoothly, and it’s all around nicely done for an amateur shoot.

Music: There’s a little music at the start and end of the movie, but that’s it.

Disc Complaint: There’s a watermark in the lower right corner of the screen. I mention it here because I know that a lot of people really hate watermarks. On the plus side, it’s clear and it stays there consistently throughout the feature so that you can put it out of your mind fairly easily.

Menus: There’s only one menu, and sadly, it sucks. It’s extremely basic and pretty much just looks like cheap selection screen with one choice. It does anything but make a good first impression.

The Feature

Although he’s supposed to be helping his woman with a little yardwork, the dude here decides he’d rather check out some net porn. His woman isn’t happy, but after he gets her to watch a little with him gets juiced up and starts to strip down. She diddles herself briefly before her man turns around to see what she’s doing, and with a smile moves over to start tonguing her twat. She even lets him finger her ass a little before moving down to mouth his manhood. After getting him ready she climbs up to ride him cowgirl style as he sits back in his chair and spanks her lightly. She also lets him take her from behind as she bends over his desk and missionary style on the desk. He works her clit over with his fingers while she rides him reverse cowgirl style, and brings her to a nice orgasm before she comes down to suck him a bit more. The continue to alternate between fucking missionary and cowgirl style with a little oral love to bring the guy back. After it looks like the guy’s ready to collapse, the girl lays back and works herself over with a vibe as he watches and strokes himself. Finally, the guy gets up and goes over to give his woman a wide-eyed facial.

This is an extremely likeable feature which shows just why so many people prefer amateur porn to studio porn. No, the technical aspects aren’t normally quite as perfect and the people don’t look like they just stepped out of Hollywood, but that’s also part of the charm. Here the couple looks just like an average couple off the street. They aren’t the best looking, but certainly aren’t the worst. The woman has a little meat on her bones and they both have a few tattoos and piercings. You can also relate to the people you’re watching, and even better, you rarely have to wonder if the performers are faking it or not. Here, the couple looks like they’re enjoying themselves through every moment of the feature. You can tell they know how to get each other off, and see the effort they both put into getting each other off. There’s nothing overly complex or complicated about it, as it goes on like straightforward sex, and that’s a big part of what makes it work so well. A Sunday Afternoon is a great amateur porno that’s definitely worth checking out.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many DVDs from Pixie’s Emporium can be found for about $13. Although this is a bare bones DVD, I’d still recommend checking it out (and if you want to check and see if it’s been re-released as an updated DVD I’m sure the wonderful customer service at Pixie’s Emporium will let you know). The sex is nicely captured and has the wonderfully real feel that originally grabbed me with amateur porn. The technical aspects have a few problems, most of which appear to be due to the transfer, but a good portion of the movie looks as good or better than some studio releases I’ve seen. This is a nicely done DVD.

Note to Pixie’s Emporium: Some kind of credits would be very nice in your movies. This is the second time I’ve seen this couple, and I’m sure that I’m not alone in wondering if they do other videos as well. Without any kind of credits it’s hard not to know.
