8mm Madness Volume 2 Number 1: The Rough & Raunchy Collection is a relaunch of Pete Chiarella (42^nd Street Pete) and Alternative Cinema/After Hours Cinema's 8mm Madness adult loop compilation series started in 2006. 8mm Madness Volume 2 Number 1 is a compilation of 8mm loops.

For those who don't know, 8mm loops are short vignette-style sex scenes that were shot on 16mm film and then sold on 8mm film strips, usually 200' but sometimes 400', to the home consumer who would watch them using a film projector. Eight-millimeter loops are typically silent. 8mm Madness Volume 2 Number 1 contains 19 loops, which falls into the current standard for loop compilations that are being released.

8mm Madness Volume 2 Number 1 features Pete Chiarella, smoking a joint, who introduces each loop prior to the loop playing. Most of the information he gives consists of a name for the loop and what the loop is about along with the box the loop was in (which in most cases is just plain white). The loops themselves fall on the more fetish side of what was being produced, including themes like forced sex, golden showers, and bondage. Most of the loops in the collection are hardcore and in color; however, there are a few that are black and white, and a few that are just nudie cuties.

The only real issue with this release is the lack of proper identifications for the loops contained on it. For your casual viewer, this won't be a big deal; however, for collector's trying to get loops in digital form, this is a much bigger deal. It would have been nice had After Hours Cinema included the loop numbers, for the ones that still had them, on the film themselves for proper identification. To make matters worse, Pete Chiarella has made up a name for some of the loop, and there are other loops where this reviewer suspects that Pete Chiarella has made up a name.

The loops contained on this release are “Police Brutality” with Jamie Gillis. “Police Brutality” appears to be America in the Raw loop 1 “Police Brutality — Part 1” and America in the Raw loop 2 “Police Brutality — Part 2” combined. Both are from 1975. “Rituals” from an unknown company. “Forced to Fuck*” from an unknown company. “Shaved Lesbian†,” which is also called “Shaved Lesbians†” on the release, which appears to be HH loop HH2 “Dildos and Bungholes.” “Toejammin'†” from an unknown company.

“Snakin' it in†” and “Topless Woman Herding Goats†,” which are both from an unknown company and both are nudie cuties. “The Pepsi Pussy Plunge*” from an unknown company. “Pregnant Polly I” from Collection loop number CL12 (from the original series, not the rerelease series). “Golden Showers” from Color Climax loop number CC1315 that was written by Carl Albert and directed by M.P. Ronaldo and Don A. Sweet. “Golden Showers” stars Conny and Edward D. Wood, Jr likely wrote the subtitles.

“Teenage Trip” from Eros Films (loop number unknown) and also from Tenill Presents (loop number unknown) starring Jonathan Younger. “Sex With a Gun” from The Hot Line (loop number unknown), which is also known as “Sex & the Gun” loop number 3 from Danish Films International and “Sex & a Gun” loop number 2 from Minx Film. “Sex Shop Stop,” which Pete Chiarella also calls “Sex Stop Shop” from Match Mates (number unknown).

“Kitchen Thrall*” from an unknown company. “The Magician,” also known as “Der Zauberer”), from Erotisex Films (which Pete Chiarella thinks was also through Paris Imports) with English and German subtitles. “The Kink of Bottled Beers†,” which Pete Chiarella thinks may be a bootlegged Swedish Erotica loop. “Too Drunk to Fuck†,” which is an unnamed loop from the M Series (the earlier 1 through the 100s series — actual loop number unknown). “Nasty Gangbang†” from an unknown company and “Balled in the Bathroom*” from an unknown company.

Pete Chiarella has done a nice job of collecting some of the more taboo loops that were released. There is a nice variety to the kinks that are present in the collection without having an overwhelming amount of one kink or another. Viewers who are looking for the more standard sex-oriented loops will want to skip this collection.

After Hours Cinema has done a nice job with their Blu-ray release of 8mm Madness Volume 2 Number 1: The Rough & Raunchy Collection. The loops contained in the collection were shot on 16mm film, and it looks like After Hours Cinema has used high definition scans of 8mm prints for this release. As is to be expected with a release like this, some of the loops look way better than others. Some are in such lousy shape one wonders why they were preserved in high definition, whereas others look almost pristine. The footage of Pete Chiarella was shot digitally and is presented in the anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1. The loops are shown in the proper Academy aspect ratio of 1.33:1. All of the footage on the release is presented in 1080p. There is print damage, artifacts, and washed-out colors present in some of the loops.

8mm Madness Volume 2 Number 1: The Rough & Raunchy Collection is presented with an English Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo audio track. The loops themselves contain the sound of a projector. The dialog from the footage of Pete Chiarella is clear and easy to understand. The only complaint this reviewer has with the audio is that it is presented in a lossy format.

After Hours Cinema hasn't included any extras on the Blu-ray.

8mm Madness Volume 2 Number 1: The Rough & Raunchy Collection is a collection of 8mm loops that focuses on the more taboo loops that were released. There is a nice variety to the loops contained on the release, and most are in relatively good shape. Fans of 8mm loops will find a lot to like in this collection unless they are looking for the more tamer style of sex.
