100 Boyfriends Mixtape is a gay hardcore short movie and is described by the director, writer, and star Brontez Purnell as being a choreo-movie for which Purnell's description is, “not dealing in straight narrative but like with pictures, voice over, text, poetry, performance pieces, etc,” when he was interviewed by The Sword's Kenyon Farrow. This reviewer is using his description since this reviewer was unable to find any other definition of a choreo-movie.

100 Boyfriends Mixtape tells the story of the decline of DeShawn (Brontez Purnell) and Andres' (Pablo Schmidt-Escobar) relationship through eyes of both DeShawn and Andres. While telling the story, Purnell uses a variety of techniques to tell DeShawn and Andres' story (along with that of Pablo (Manuel Rodriguez), DeShawn's side piece.

100 Boyfriends Mixtape may sound like an odd short movie, however, it is one that is well worth seeing. The movie keeps the viewer well entertained during the 14-minute run time and makes good use of all of the 14-minutes that it uses. One of the segments is an excellent and amusing piece with DeShawn and Kehinde (Kelly Lovemonster) sitting on a porch talking that was very reminiscent, in a good way, of Smokey and Craig talking on the porch in the 1995 film Friday.

The entire cast of 100 Boyfriends Mixtape is excellent and bring their characters to life with a vibrancy that this reviewer wasn't expecting to see in the scant 14-minutes of time the movie utilizes. The movie does utilize hardcore sex sequences that do not hold back. However, not a single one of them seemed out of place or forced into the movie.

Overall, 100 Boyfriends Mixtape is a very hard short movie to describe but one that is definitely worth seeing. The short movie isn't anything the viewer has seen before and is very rewarding to the viewer.

The edition of 100 Boyfriends Mixtape screened is the streaming only version available on NakedSword. NakedSword Film Works has done an excellent job with their streaming release of 100 Boyfriends Mixtape. 100 Boyfriends Mixtape was shot digitally, on VHS tape, and on Super-8 mm film and is presented in the anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1 in 720p. This reviewer has to assume that 100 Boyfriends Mixtape looks like how the director intended it to look in this release as there are periods with sub-optimal video quality but that would be expected since VHS tape recorded at 250i.

100 Boyfriends Mixtape is presented with an English Stereo audio track. There are no noticeable issues with the audio whatsoever. The music in the short movie, which is central to some scenes, is well balanced and sounds good. The dialog is clear and understandable at all times during the short movie.

100 Boyfriends Mixtape has been released by NakedSword through their NakedSword Film Works (NSFW) division that was launched in 2016 to exhibit gay independent movies that aren't exactly pornographic yet aren't exactly mainstream. 100 Boyfriends Mixtape is a unique and excellent hardcore gay short movie from director, writer, and star Brontez Purnell. 100 Boyfriends Mixtape is something that the viewer has never seen before and is well worth watching. NakedSword Film Works has done, what this reviewer must assume, is a great job with their streaming only release of 100 Boyfriends Mixtape.
