  I think the online shopping is the biggest factor. I get a ton of stuff online now. Nothing lasts forever. Products and styles fade, new and better ones made with different material. I would would guess many are just mismanaged. Things that we bought 20-30 years ago have been replaced by something new. Like music, its gone from a record, to 8 tracks to a cassette, to a CD, then MP3 player. Now its all on the phone. None of those things are around anymore except maybe an mp3 player but your phone can do that. Except for Red Box there are no VHS or DVDs to rent, its all streaming. I RARELY go to wall-mart and thats usually because I want it right now instead of waiting for it to be shipped.
