Windows won't eat itself, and hasn't been able to do that for a lot of versions. If you need to format the drive that you normally boot Windows from, you'll need to boot from something else. If you have a floppy drive like you mentioned, you could do that. Probably easier would be to boot from CD - your Windows install CD should be able to do it for you. After you format the drive, everything that was on it is gone. You'll need that install CD to re-install Windows anyway.

There used to be a good sized wire, running up to the picture tube. It had a LOT of voltage on it. Don't touch it. Worse, the power supplies back then had good sized capacitors that could hold a hell of a charge for a long time, even after the TV was unplugged from the wall. There were bleeders to drain that charge, but you shouldn't put complete trust in them. A wise move would be to get a screwdriver with a good plast...

However, after having quickly read the thread, I have the feeling that it is not the best in this situation. I get the feeling that using stuff like this is not a regular thing for conq. :) Once upon a time, when using a cleaner in an area that was not a flat surface - it was a carb and the cleaner was 2+2 - it blew back in my face. I have never forgotten the pain of just a tiny drop of that stuff in my eye. To this day, I'm very, very careful when working with pressurized spray stuff. Conq: if you do use Brakleen, be mindful. I'm thinking that if he just removes the heat sink and soaks it under water for a while, whatever ...
