  Thanks for your thoughts, guys. I will probably keep the vids on my player while in Oz, and then delete them before I arrive somewhere that porn is illegal. May be I'll find other things to entertain me while I'm away! Although I did think about maybe renaming the files from Movie.avi to file43.dat or somesuch, so that they wouldn't be recognised as movie files in Windows.

  If you read the International Shopping Guide, which is a sticky thread at the top of this forum, you should find several recommended US stores that declare low customs values. I've personally used Laser's Edge, who do it right.

  Glenn74: if you've tried contacting the studio and had no reply, you could try the store where you bought the discs. They might take them for exchange, or maybe they would contact their distributor to find out what the situation is. I had my Anabolic disc of Nice Rack #6 go bad, and fail to play at all. In the end I just threw it in the bin, and chalked it up to bad luck. At least Evil Angel were good enough to swap discs.   The only reason this problem exists is because a particular disc duplicating company (the DDVD discs) produced batches of discs that much later became unreadable. At the time these were produced, the replicator and their client (Evil Angel) would have had no idea this problem would later arise. This could have happened to any studio, and was just bad luck that EA happened to use that replicator. That's why there hasn't been threads about other company's discs. Although I must say that I have had discs from Anabolic that have now gone bad and are now unreadable, I just haven't bothered to find out whether they would replace them.   This has happened to me once before. VAT is chargeable on all packages coming into the UK from the states, if the value is over 18 GBP I think. It's quite normal and usual, I'm afraid. You have just been lucky before, or maybe your orders were lower in value, or maybe the store put a lower value on the customs label. That's why it's important, if you're buying larger orders, to shop at an online store that is "creative" in the value they state on the customs sticker. This is the amount that the customs people use to calculate how much VAT you must pay. Some places put a nominal value of $10 on all packages, so that you won't be charged VAT (unless customs open it and decide it's worth more than 18 GBP). The clearance fee is beca...

  Just another experience anecdote to add here.. I ordered a disc from EroDVD 2 weeks ago, and it just arrived this morning. It was only a Private title, so I wasn't worried it would be seized. Anyway, I had assumed that 2 weeks delay meant it was almost certainly being examined by customs and would be sent on resealed. Well, from the date on the postmark (and the fact my CC hasn't even been charged yet) it seems that the package was only sent 2 days ago, so it's arrived intact at the normal expected postal delivery time from Holland to the UK, without customs intervention.   Joel, I think the chances of "getting busted" are much lower than you might think from what you've heard. Remember that you only tend to hear about the times things go wrong on these forums, not the thousands of times that everything is fine. I've been ordering porn online from Europe and the USA for 5 years, and never had a single problem. Probably most others here are the same.   I admit I haven't checked www.blankdiscshop.co.uk that recently... if they are phasing out G04s then that's a shame. I will have to look at what they have now, when my current batch runs out. The place I check for disc media reviews is www.videohelp.com, although I assume that's a well known site. Seems your target application is making DVD-Video discs that are highly compatible. That's not something I really do, as my use of discs is just for file storage to be read in computer drives not home players. I'm not sure what the current best practice is for making compatible video discs - I'd check videohelp's forums in that case. I suspect the answer will be that it's a complete mess of compatibility!

  I notice you're in the UK, like myself. I get my DVD-R blanks from this shop http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/ who provide a wide range of discs, with lots of technical info and recommendations based on their experience. And their customer service is superb too - fast delivery and low prices. I stick to G04 discs, which have worked well for me (in a Pioneer 105 and Panasonic DMR E55) over the years, and the supply doesn't seem to be drying up just yet.

  Tricia, you're welcome. I can imagine EA must be a 100 times more pissed off with this replicator situation than each of us would be individually. Out of interest, are you receiving DDVD disc returns through any of the retailers (e.g. Fivestar, Lasers Edge etc etc) or are they all direct from fans? I wonder if the online stores are aware of this particular batch fault. Since I bought my EA discs from LE and others, strictly speaking I could have sent them back to the store and got them to sort it out. Maybe fans should do that instead, and have the retailers arrange the replacements. That would cut down the admin hassle for EA, as they'd only need to replace a smaller number of (large) batches at a time. Edited by - timotei on 1/26/2005...

  Personally I wouldn't place any faith in any storage media that claims to be &quot;long term&quot; quality for archiving. My approach is to use good enough quality discs to store my files, then every 2 or 3 years I transfer them onto a new set of discs. So I don't tend to worry about long-term shelflife of discs, so long as it's at least a few years. Who knows what kind of unforseen quality problems will crop up in 5 years. Look at those Evil Angel DVD discs - unreadable after a few years. The manufacturer could have claimed as many guarantees as they like at the time, but all that matters is that now the discs are not readable.   EroDVD's website is a usability disaster area. I would imagine it was designed for Internet Explorer, and it also uses lots of Java applets (not just ). Fingers crossed, one day they will have it rebuilt using decent tools so that it's more accessible.

  I think cv is right - short hair is just not what most fans expect (unfortunately, in my opinion). As a fan of short-haired girls, I can recommend Petra Short and Bambie Dolce, although they don't seem to have made many films recently. Then there's Katja Love with her shaved head! I think she looked great, but I can understand it's not to everyone's taste, so it's not surprising that the industry will try to appeal to the biggest market. On the other hand, I think Michelle Wild suits longer hair better, on balance, but I won't pass up a film with her in, whatever she does to her hair! Even the weird brown in DNA.

  I really don't like the current trend in the business world to be control freaks and try to dictate how end users will &quot;experience&quot; media and technology. Forced trailers is one instance of this that is becoming visible to the public at large. I believe Disney DVDs are particularly bad in this respect. Fortunately, I find that the Adult studios who push the most forced viewing on their DVDs are the ones I happen to like least, in terms of style of film etc. Thankfully the good studios who make excellent films, such as EA, also respect their customers and don't abuse them with excessive trailers. Hopefully we customers can use purchase-power to show the worst offenders what we think of their control freakery.

  It's risky - I tried once and got away with it, but as SW says it just depends if someone spots it and reports it. Ebay themselves do virtually no policing unless someone else tells them about an auction. Why anyone would is another matter. I put a collection of 80s softcore mags on Ebay and had a Buy-it-now option, so it wasn't online very long before someone bought it, which was handy. The golden rule is: if you have one of your auctions taken down because Ebay have had a complaint, then DO NOT try it again - you will be thrown off Ebay. It's pretty dumb that they won't start a Mature Audience category in the UK site - that would keep everyone happy.

  This morning I received a complete set of replacement discs from EA for the titles I returned, and all of them play perfectly throughout the main feature and the extras. These new discs are pressed by a different replicator (not DDVD) so fingers crossed they stay playable. I am extremely impressed with Evil Angel, and Tricia in particular, for providing these replacements. Thank you! I wish all companies offered such excellent customer service.

  I've had my current PC five years now, and in all that time the keyboard has probably moved a maximum of about 1 inch in any direction! I can't see wireless keyboards being much more than a gimmick really.
