  Anyone with any new info? I was going thru all these old DVDs at my store and I came across Ass Alien, Ass Squirts and Ass Clowns. I don't even know what to think about them. I put one of them in my theater, and a guy came out and asked if I could change the movie, he was pretty horrified by Osama sticking a butt plug in some young girls ass. I guess he wasn't for everyone huh?

  Jules, Here at the Deja Vu Stores in Vegas, I have actually seen a drop-off in sales on DP product since they started that. I can't give you a reason why other than to say maybe the customer is confused by the fact that they come in the smaller blu-ray cases.

  Torris, The next time you're in Vegas, come by one of my stores and see me. I will hook you up with a discount on anything you buy (except my 4 dvds for $15 rack, can't really go lower than $3.75, and magazines since there is no markup). I stock alot of new releases (not all of them), and have some great deals on stuff from Evil, Elegant, JJ, Tom Byron, etc all under $20, some even under $10.

  Bustdowngal, So if you pay $21 for said Elegant title, you charge $19.95 for it new release even if nobody has rented it? So you're willing to take a $1 dollar loss right off the bat? My raincoaters tend to be of a different breed. They know when a DVD streets, what stars and directors they like, which studio is of quality, etc. Sure, I have some that only come in and buy cheapies. And they buy by genre, but even then I've got guys going thru my discount Hush Hush and Dreamgirls and Bluebird and Evil section because they know that these products are quality. They leave the Dirty Debs, Leisure Time, Maverick, etc alone because they know that is just garbage and they'll be lucky to get the DVD that is actually advertised on the box. Sure, tha...

  M.B. and Ninja, I think you misunderstood what I wrote. Here is an example of what I was talking about: New customer comes in, signs up for a rental account, rents a dvd for $5 for 3 days. We charge their card on the initial rent to make sure the card is valid. Guy doesn't return it by the 3rd day. A week goes by, I call the guy to see what's up. No return call. 2 days later, I call the guy again, and again no return call. I then go to charge his card at day 14 (per the agreement) and his card declines. It continues to decline for the next 2 months. What next? What you're suggesting we do is what we're already doing. We purge accounts every 3 months.   Torris, I buy for the Deja Vu stores in Las Vegas. I'm in competition with the Adult Superstores, but my prices are cheaper, I have a better selection, and I buy almost every new release on the market. I shop their stores just to see what they're doing. They do more rentals than I do, but that's because we've never been a renting store. While I have some rentals, it's never been a money maker for us. Most of the time, the disc never comes back or it's scratched to all hell, and the card declines when I try to charge to cost to the guy.   I am a buyer for a few stores in Las Vegas. I can add a few things to this thread. Each of my stores has well over 3,000 DVDs on the floor at all times. We cover almost every genre, niche, and feature released. We have all the new releases from most major studios, and sale racks that offer the customer a discount. I even have a rack that has 4 dvds for $15. We also have a section for classics such as Taboo and Deep Throat among many others. You will not find a DVD from any major studio over $44.95 unless it's a major feature, ie Pirates or Speed. We are competetive with other stores, but it's tough with online sites. We have a much higher overhead, as stated previously. We adhere to Jules' stated MSRP, and are lower on other studios. Our ad...

  Solar, You stil need Brick and Mortar stores. Just because you can wait a week for your DVD, or are willing to watch it on a computer does not mean everyone feels the same way. I sell thousands of dollars in DVDs everyday between 3 stores, and you would not believe how many people tell me they have no interest in using the internet for porn. Whether it's viruses, or the fact they don't want to put sensitive information out there, they still come in and buy from me. People still want to walk in and hold the DVD in their hand. Also, when a couple watches a movie, I'm sure they'd prefer to watch it on their TV than on a computer monitor. And thank you for repeating what I said about Digital Playground.   Solar, Take this from someone in the industry (I'm a buyer for a chain), what you're complaing about DVD pricing wise is not something that can be changed. First off, if you buy from a store like one of mine, I have to have a certain markup on my product to pay my bills. I have a staff to pay, lights to keep on, water to keep running, etc. That doesn't include things like paying $1k every 3 months for a new theater TV, or $40 every week for a new theater DVD player, or other incidentals (like my sign just blew 4 light bulbs, or the arcade needs a new touch screen for booth 14, etc). If a Digital Playground title wholesales at $20-25 (not including shipping), then obviously the retailers are going to mark it at $40 or higher just to pay the...

  Woody put it best, if people no longer pay for new content, then there will be no more new content. Want to see a 1st time anal with a starlet? Pay for the scene! Soon it will be just old catalog scenes from years ago. Vivid will not shell out the money to make such big budget movies as Malice in LaLaland or DMJ: Resurrection. The only new content will be from amateurs, and not everybody (myself included) is interested in this type of content.   Yes, the three stores I run here in Vegas all have arcades. Deja Vu's Little Darlings Bookstore, Love Boutique, and Adult Emporium. All are private booths with a window, and are cleaned twice daily, if not more. 63 channels at my smallest location, 200+ at the biggest one. Only the big one has HD tvs, it's way too expensive to put HD tv's into the smaller locations. $1 for 3 minutes. Almost every genre is covered. Open 24 hours. Does that help you at all?

  Spot on Woody, if a store closes, that's it. It's not coming back, with the way laws are changing left and right, especially zoning laws. It's tough enough just to get an Adult Book/Video license, let alone make sure you have enough foot traffic in the shitty neighborhood/industrial area the city will actually let you build in. Then you have to map your store out perfectly, almost making the shopping seamless and not cluttered, even though the city will probably limit the size of your store. And don't even mention getting a theater or arcade license, you might as well have asked to city to build your store for you. And it is multiple things that cause a store to close, not just piracy. But piracy is a main culprit, especially in the lagging...

  This is my first post, been following this thread for days. I buy for Deja Vu's retail stores, so I'm on the front line as far as actually talking with consumers. I know many people in this industry, including Woody, although he probably doesn't remember me since I don't buy direct anymore (don't worry Woody, I still buy you're product from a distributor, all except the Vivid/Club Jenna gonzo lines.
