    It's one of the competing formats for the high definition successor to DVD. <link> Frankly, as far as I'm concerned, there's not really a lot of porn that needs or deserves HD, but that's another story I'm not aware of any adult discs yet released on BR due to the expense of both the media and the players (like ~$1000).     I actually have an HDTV with HDMI...unfortunately, only one input, which means I'll eventually need to get a switcher or HDMI-capable receiver (ranging from $350-1K+ now). As far as backward compatiblity, I think it will be at least 5 years before we see the winner or successor to the HD format wars, and another 10-20 before DVD is out the door. And by then, I'm sure they'll have plenty of players that will have the lasers and electronics to support the inferior DVD. FWIW, when combined with a decent upconverter and well-authored disc, DVD stands up pretty well against HDTV movies on my 768p set. I've seen both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray demoed, and while they're great, even if there was no format war, I wouldn't even consider upgrading my 400-o...

    Okay, I just power-skimmed this thread, and here are a few comments and suggestions. Apologies if they have been mentioned--like I said, power-skimmed. 1. You can sometimes get clues from the Windows Event Viewer. Before my last hard drive died, I was able to see the disk seek errors in the system logs in time for me to copy everything elsewhere. See <link> 2. All modern hard drives have S.M.A.R.T. monitoring built-in. See <link> . S.M.A.R.T. software was able to predict the impending failure of my boot drive last year.     Well, if you're not ultra paranoid or doing something illegal, <link> will suffice. It's not going to beat the government or anything, but will do a decent job beyond consumer recovery tools. Certainly not as fun as destroying the drive, but wiping is absolutely the thing to do if you're going to donate/sell/gift your old machines/DVR's/whatnot.

    Two of mine: no time coding and mandatory compliance notices. I hate it when you can't jump around on a disc, and I really, really despise having to wait 30 secs to 1 min to even play *PORN*. Cough, Hustler, cough.

    I've subscribed to BushDVD for 3 1/2 years, and have never had a significant problem. Good selection, reasonable price, and fast shipping (including Saturdays). From LA, it's usually a two day turnaround (one day is definitely my local post office...if I drop it in a mailbox in another zip, it's one day. Even though I'm probably a money-loser, they've never slowed me down. Bush has only raised their rates once in 40 months, and that was after the last postal rate increase. They've been responsive to the occasional lost or damaged disc, and have been receptive to new title requests. About the only thing I have noticed is that some titles are on Short or Long Wait for an eternity, but my queue has always been pretty lengthy. Looking at my h...

    I haven't had a chance to update it, but I'm only a couple of submissions behind. The real problem is that I don't find very many myself, and the egg submissions have all but stopped. If you find any that aren't listed, please drop me an e-mail! Also, I have a hard time listing the JM eggs because my egg list uses ADT's database for title listings and covers. Since ADT doesn't list JM titles, I will have to list these separately. I hope to get around to it one of these days. - <link>
