  I have won stuff from various wallpaper and graphics competitions. I think the last one were a wallpaper competition on Sophie Moones site, but i never got my price. It got "lost in the mail".

  Drew, im sure all those numbers you mention are correct. The only thing i know is that every other forum ive ever been on have a file-size (and resolution) limit and dont resize the avatars. Im just gonna leave this alone since this isnt a fanart board and noone else seems to care about this.

  I still dont understand why you cant just set a file size limit on avatars instead of compressing them when theyre uploaded to the forum. I guess most people dont give a crap about this but im a bit of a photoshop addict and make lots of fanart stuff and i can hardly use any of my avatars here because they look like crap when theyre uploaded.

  If you have a DVD player in your computer you could always make a screencap from the movie, most programs used to play DVDs have this function. If the height of the screencap is 576 pixels its PAL, if its 480 its NTSC.

  I actually checked how much i had to compress it in photoshop to get it to the quality it ended up and it was just about 50% and if you ask me thats very extreme compression. This isnt really a big issue for me but at least its good to know that its no use making something extravagant when it ends up useless.

  Does the images have to be compressed when uploaded? I was going to change my avatar (10 hex 100 pixels, 6kb) but when i uploaded it it looked like complete crap because of the heavy compression.
