re. Peach Fuzz on marquee -- people who were around back in the day usually have some fond memory or two about adult movies intersecting with daily life in some way... personally, I love the nostalgia value. One memory I have is being about 8 and overhearing my mother's friend talking with her about having gone to see I Am Curious (Yellow). It was playing in our city of 25,000. Got me curious, all right. re. Media Blasters future classic X releases...after CH, we might expect them to go for some other 'marquee value' titles -- ??? http://realboogienights.com

hey, thanks -- I was unclear on the prod. date of CH's film due to this confusion. Now I got it. BTW, imdb.comlists as 1977 I also have a John Holmes movie just called "Fuzz", also dated 1976. any connection...?

are those the same movie (Georgia Peach-Peach Fuzz)-- ?? I actually have a 16mm copy but haven;t watched. But I have seen Final Sin, it's really intense and has an early usage of video monitoring mixed up in the plot. I just sort of assumed that Howard's earlier films didn't have the core audience that would justify a DVD (as his 80's films do). Maybe they could be put out as double features? http://realboogienights.com

#1 for me is STAR ANGEL -- that movie is a trip. -- but I'm also a big fan of Command Cinema trailers. Firestorm especially is awesome. So...any interest in a volume of trailers from Cecil Howard? http://realboogienights.com

I saw this movie in a theatre but hopefully will get the (uncut?) DVD soon. The version I saw had some odd bondage sequences that looked like they were cut in later. It's a fascinating film, seemingly inspired by the 70's paperback genre of introspective NY Jewish women looking for the right man (Erica Jong, etc..). It definitely takes the woman's perspective and reflects feminist concerns of the day. I love the pizza-and-cocaine party! http://realboogienights.com

I'm curious what people think of the REST of Neon Nights?! That wild opening scene of Gillis and his escalating-digits insertion tends to take center stage when you talk about the movie, as other posts indicate. But it's a testament to the quality of the film that it can hold its own after the 'fist-start'. This is one quality flick, integrating story, kinky sex, aesthetically-shot female bodies (a rarity in porn, I find), power dynamics between men and women, magic and mystery, plus that heavy psychological undercurrent that drives it all. I will be watching this DVD many more times -- and not JUST the fisting scene! http://realboogienights.com

re. VCX as "Exclusive Distributors" of the Media Blasters' Command Cinema releases (i.e., Babylon Pink and Neon Nights) -- just add "in the adult market" and it all becomes clear... http://realboogienights.com

just a word up that the Babylon PInk DVD rocks. looks totally awesome amd it's a great movie. The actress line-up is phenomenal, the lighting is great, the directing very naturalistic and with a subtle humorous undercurrent through all the various scenes -- watch Babylon Pink and you know why they call the film era the "Golden Age". http://realboogienights.com

Media-Blasters is now aware of this thread. I'l tell you my key list -- Neon Nights and Star Angel at the top, followed by Firestorm I & II, then Snake Eyes. BTW, Brian De Palma had to get permission from Howard to use the title Snake Eyes for his own movie with Nicholas Cage! (You can't normally own a title, but because Howard had made Snake Eyes II it was a 'series' and he had legal copyright on the title -- something like that) http://realboogienights.com

I think the main thing I was speaking to is the possible expectation by fans that the classic porn film they've been waiting to see on DVD will finally be in "widescreen" (and that releases thus far that have stuck to "full frame" have short-changed them). The reality seems to be that porn was much more often shot in an aspect ratio closer to a traditional TV screen. Once VHS releases were the norm, that may well have been a factor in fullscreen framing, and the point made about the size of 16mm source film was quite possibly a factor in the earlier years. Then there is the question of matting... Yes, maybe this should be a new thread -- no doubt there are others who know the story better (not to mention those who actua...

I totally agree with you about care and quality -- it holds the adult feature film genre back from being taken seriously as film, studied and written about. All those awful videos, which often were transferred from beta master tapes. BTW, in my last post when I referred to the video age I meant the onset of VCR's and VHS releases of porn movies. I am no authority on which directors shot in what ratio, but I beleive it's generally the case for porn that the frame was close to TV size. Deep Throat is a little wider. http://realboogienights.com

One thing that should be clarified in general about adult films going to DVD, is the "widescreen" situation. People have rightly lamented the "pan 'n scan" or "fullscreen" treatment of movies in general on video -- so now porn fans are jumping at the bit about the adult releases on DVD being full screen. But it needs to be clarified that almost all porn movies were originally shot in an aspect ratio pretty much the same as a TV frame (approx. 1.33:1). Perhaps this is because the essence of porn is the insertion and money shot, and so directors weren't creatively thinking of what might be happening or visually important off to the sides. As well, once the video age got going, directors were completley conscious ...

Great to see others are eagerly awaiting the re-appeaarnce of Cecil Howard movies. I wrote a piece for YesPortal that clarified a confusion that came up in Xbiz article -- namely, how many Command Cinema titles were licensed to Medi Blasters. The correct answer is 2. But hopefully that is just a start of something... http://www.yesportal.com/news.cfm/4575 http://realboogienights.com
  • Need help finding name of this classic porn film 10/28/2005 2:37 AM
well, your description really narrows it down! name a film where Jamie Gillis DOESN'T shag some young virgin. seriously, I dunno -- but you can use imdb.com and search for movies where Gillis and Peter North both appear. http://realboogienights.com

sounds like Heaven's Touch (1983), one of Shaun Costello's last directorial efforts (as Warren Evans). Michael Knight played the office dude ----- this movie is based on Hollywood film Heaven Can Wait http://realboogienights.com
