- Release date for Dark Angels on DVD? 10/30/2000 5:39 PM Yes, I know the term UNRATED in the adult world seems silly, but in actuality, all adult movies fall under the category of "X" or "XXX". There are certain guidelines that must be followed within X and XXX in order for certain distributors to take the movie. If you remember back to movies like "Dawn of the Dead", "Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2", "Day of the Dead", etc, these movies were released to movie theaters "unrated" (no rated R) because the MPAA would not give these movies an R rating because of the gore.
