- Getting undressed in porn 7/8/2007 9:57:58 PM I agree! I'm a big fan of foreplay.
- Should "extreme" content be flagged? 5/12/2007 4:50:03 PM You raise some good technical points, Hardware, and I understand how difficult it would be to flag it from Drew and Steph's perspective. Maybe, then, this is something the reviewers can help out in. Obviously we're watching these videos, we're noticing the content, maybe there can be an extra text box for any additional categories that should be included. I would also suggest adding an area in the forum as sort of an "appeal" if someone feels the wrong category was listed. If someone feels that a video was given the wrong category, they plead their case there. As for your other question, it's hard to say whether bisexual scenes were eliminated because of the marketplace or because the directors and talent decided on their own no...
- Should "extreme" content be flagged? 5/12/2007 12:58 PM I have an interesting question for the group, including the mods... Should "extreme" content be flagged in ADT as a separate content description? By "extreme" I mean violent content such as slapping, spitting, choking, gagging, fish-hooking, stepping, breast-slapping, and eating of (non-edible) panties. The occasional ass-slap in a scene wouldn't qualify as "extreme", but excessive ass-slapping to where you clearly see red marks would. The reason why I ask is that there have been several videos that have delved into this area and it probably would be helpful for the consumers (yes we are all pretty much consumers here) if this kind of content were to be flagged. Those who would eagerly look for this stuff wo...
- Redlightdistrict's annoying start to every film. 5/10/2007 8:22:18 PM I have to agree with Astroknight on the original subject. Forced ads are a big pet peeve for me, no matter if it's mainstream or adult. This has been an old peeve going back long before I delved into writing reviews. 2257 notices, on the other hand, are a necessary evil and one that I'll accept and deal with if it means helping to keep the big-bad crusaders away. * MD James
- Spitting and slapping 4/19/2007 6:58:20 AM Don't care for it at all.
- 3 Things You Wish Porn Studios Would Do 10/9/2006 11:02:09 PM 1) Either deliver EVERYTHING they promise on the label or stop making labels that promise what cannot be delivered. 2) Lay off the in-your-face camera footage. Part of the reason why the women seem to be performing for the camera is the fact that the camera is right in their faces. 3) Stop forcing trailers on us! * MD James
- Tan lines Why are they so rare these days? 9/11/2006 1:32:39 PM Maybe it has to do with women being kept busy doing photoshoots and promotions and feature dancing that they don't have time for sun? Another possible answer is that I've heard from at least one model say that photographers actually frown on tan lines. Don't know if that's true but it certainly would explain the lack thereof in some publications. We have so many folks from the industry in this forum, so I'd be interested in knowing if this is true or not. * MD James
- My "MILF" Mini-Rant 8/20/2006 8:54:30 AM I've been reviewing a few MILF videos of late and my big problem with them is the fact that many of these titles really don't point out the "mother" aspect. They simply use women who are look old enough to not get carded for booze and then just refer to them as "moms" on the box and in the title. A good example of this is the <link> , where you had two scenes with a mom banging her daughter's boyfriend, and one with a mom banging her son's teacher. Here the "mother" theme is established. But then in <link> , there is no such story established at the start of the scenes. It's just older women having sex. Look, if you want to ride the MILF craze then that's fine... just establish the "Mother" part som...
- Lingerie or nudity? 8/10/2006 10:45:41 PM Gotta go with the totally nude. I'm a fan of the body beautiful.
- movies where something goes wrong 8/7/2006 7:48 PM I recently posted a review for "Dude, Your Girlfriend Is In Porno! #3" where one of the Czech girls (Carmen) clearly didn't like getting part of the pop-shot in her eyes. The video cuts from the first pop-shot to the second, where she gets it in the eye, then reacts by slapping the guy, then it cuts again to her all smiles and acting like nothing happened. * MD James
- What about period-specific porn? 7/12/2006 1:46:26 PM The hard part would be finding the available talent that would be suitable for that period. Immediately out would be: 1. women with breast implants 2. women with tattoos 3. women with shaved pussies 4. women who refuse to have sex with hairy guys 5. guys with a lot of tattoos (although they can get away with some of them) 6. guys with piercings On the plus side... hey, you can always get Ron Jeremy to be in them!
- Place your bets....what's next in porn? 7/10/2006 7:34:23 PM How about just surviving the Bush Jihad?
- Do reviews make a difference? 7/9/2006 9:34:39 AM As a consumer I actually base a lot of my purchases on the kind of reviews I see for a video. And that includes the mainstream videos. Without the reviewers trashing the first release of "Sin City", I would have have made the mistake of buying that feature-only video and feeling ripped-off. I'd like to think that some folks in the industry are reading my reviews and saying "Oh yeah, good point, maybe we need to pay better attention to what we release". But I also know that there is the inevitable collection of producers, directors, and studio executives who are saying "Where does this loser get off telling US how to release videos? We were grinding out titles before this jerkoff was born!" To them the only rev...
- Underwear in porn 4/15/2006 11:11:11 AM Actually I would love seeing women wear more of the regular kind of underwear in the adult vids and not the stuff from the flashy lingerie boutiques. But then again, how else can companies like Adam and Eve market their lingerie if their performers don't show them off? By the way, I agree that the lingerie adds to the overall tease, but I also think that a beautiful busty woman looks better without the bra than if she kept it on... unless of course she got bad implants and they look like two badly-spaced grapefruits. * MD James

- Shoving trailers on DVD 11/14/2004 8:28 PM This is something of a pet peeve for me, not just for the adult industry, but also especially for mainstream studios. Have you noticed that production companies are SHOVING trailers in our faces once the DVD loads into the player? Oh, yes, I know, the correct terminology is "pushing" the trailers, but however you want to call it, it's still very annoying. It's bad enough that the mainstream studios are doing this, but now I'm seeing this with the adult studios as well! You pop a DVD in, and instead of going right to the main menu, you get anywhere between five to fifteen minutes of trailers. Why can't the studios have enough trust in us as DVD viewers to watch the trailers at our leisure? We will get to them sooner or later, and...
- Why are pornstars much better looking today .... 11/13/2004 3:03 PM I don't know if I would want to compare the beautiful talent of today with those of the 70's and 80's and say which group is better looking. First, there weren't too many people who wanted be considered "stars" of the industry in those years. Not only was there a social stigma, but back then it was flat-out illegal to MAKE such videos. You didn't have women brazenly wear shirts that said "Porn Star" on them or even considering about making it into some kind of long-time profession. Second, I don't know if I would want to consider some of today's stars as "better looking". Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and this reviewer kind of likes the more natural look that some of those earlier stars of yesterday h...

- Is Virtual Sex dead? 6/26/2004 8:22 AM I think the basic problem with the whole virtual sex genre is that it's always been really underdeveloped. Mind you I've seen these things back when they were out on CD-ROM and the best ones at that time were from a company called Pixis. What happens is that the director or the development team has an idea of what they want to see in the program, but they don't follow through on ALL of the possibilities. For instance one of the earlier virtual sex programs ("Virtual Sex with Rocki Roads") went from the girl saying "Hi" right to the sex. No foreplay, no striptease, no undressing. Just "hello" and now let's get into it. The other virtual sex programs went the opposite route. They had you jump through hoops. Pl...
