  Just want to thank you guys for the great advice. I extracted the drive from it's case and hooked it up to the internal connection and power inside my PC and everything was fine. The important lesson is: back up everything to either a redundant drive and/or optics. For the really important stuff reburn optics time to time and keep one copy remote. Lesson learned...   Okay, I purchased the device in June of 2005, here we are in October of 2007 and the drive has kicked the shitter. I think I am pretty much screwed on the device. I don't have anything on there that was too important as valuable stuff was always backed up to optical media just in case something like this occurred. I wish I had listened Jamesn and Tommi Rose Fan and avoided this product. Just an irritating inconvenience. Anyone out there be careful because Seagate has purchased Maxtor and is probably marketing the same crappy product under a different brand. Peace out... McX

  I shoot with a Nikon D200 and have been very happy with the results. However, I have been thinking of upgrading. I just don't know if I should go to a D3, D300 or try and pick up a D2Xs on the cheap. Peace out... McX
