  I'm sick and tired of those scammers and their lack of any reaction to my attempts of canceling last year's (!) "backorder". If they go on with this, I'm filing charges of fraud against them in any institution dealing with this I can find (USPS inspection, BBB, FBI and so on). However, I need their physical location... does anyone know where they actually are? While trying to look them up, I found two possible locations, in Rhode Island and New Jersey; does anyone know which is theirs? If any - perhaps they're somewhere else (in this case, would anyone know where?)

  These are censored fragments of their pics - I'm fairly sure they're from early 90s or perhaps 80s... Or perhaps if someone recognizes the title the pics are from, so that the cast list could be checked... Topic Moved by - hardware on Oct 19 2004

  Just look at the disc to see if it's a DVD-/+R. I certainly wouldn't mind getting XXX discs in transparent cases because then I could take those cases and put the discs and leaflets in boring old black cases that I have dozens of. It's difficult to find transparent DVD boxes en masse in stores :D. The boring old black/dark brown ones are everywhere, but transparent ones are rare, unfortunately...

  Is the "new" site still treating first customers like thieves? Or perhaps even more so? Will it perhaps demand skin samples and passport photographs in addition to photocopies of bank statements etc?

  About their charging - they're also the only site in the world that charges you to see scans of front and back covers of most films. Jaded, Gamelink, etc., can for some reason afford to show scans for free. (Not that there isn't a way around it, in fact it's very easy to bypass it on Excalibur)

  And I think I answered my second question - xxxdvd.co.jp has what I wanted, has an English interface, and has prices about 50% lower than what the greedy jlist asks.

  Just the audacity and boorishness they display in that "policy" of theirs is enough to consider them the worst retailer. As far as their web design goes, last time I saw their site, it was filled with crappy java aplets, flash and other trash.

  Dvdempire? Is that the same DVD store that asks for, quote, "a photocopy, scan or digital photo of the front and back of your credit card, the CVV2 code and 7 or 8 digits of your card number on both the front and back; your credit card billing statement with your billing address and the company's letterhead CLEARLY visible; your fingerprints and sample of your DNA"? Or maybe they "only" ask for two of those, but the point is that I don't like being looked at as a potential thief, so I'll never buy at a store that treats me as one.

  Another thing about Excalibur - I checked them again yesterday, and actually tried to place an order once again. They let me in, accepted my login... but then I was informed "We no longer ship VHS titles to countries outside USA". Morons. I was only interested in returning to them because of four old VHS titles that nobody else lists and that aren't available on DVD. Oh well, screw them - now I know for sure there's absolutely no reason to buy at Excalibur ever again. It's just Jaded for me from now on, as it's been for over a year anyway. :)

  Does anyone have any experience with these stores? They have many unique titles. I tried ordering a few, but even though they state they ship outside US, their order form wouldn't let me proceed without "selecting a state", which of course I couldn't do... Has anybody ordered from them?

  I first ordered from two or three times two years ago or so. First orders were great, so I continued. But soon the merchandise started getting shoddy and was obviously copied from original tapes/discs, very poorly. Something must have been going on there, as at that time many posters in the RAME group started complaining about them. Then they seemed to have installed a country-specific filter that would disallow connections based on IPs (I experimented with a number of proxies to verify this), they stopped accepting credit cards for a month or so, and I got too fed up with them and never used them since. I still read messages about them on RAME, etc., and while some claim they're good/improved, many others state that they're shoddy, not wor...

  Firstly - about a month ago, I placed an order with Goliathfilms; they charged me, and for a while, when I was checking its status, I got information that it was still unshipped. Then they went offline for a week or so and now are back with a new, account-based shopping system. I can no longer check the status of that "old" order now. Does anyone know if they're going to ship the orders that had been placed before they introduced the new system? (They did charge me, as I mentioned) Secondly - I've been trying to buy a Japanese video in two parts, on two DVDs; first I tried getting it from Japanese stores. With the first one, I gave up after a while - with the Japanese-only interface, I couldn't even complete the checkout succes...
