  Sorry for the rotten luck you've been having with the board lately. On staying with the old software: Great news. I like this system. The alternating background colours make it much easier to browse. The new green colour scheme looked really great (might you consider adapting it for this system?), but the forum got a bit too 'busy' looking with all those huge buttons, IMHO. If you're still looking for something else, <link> looks good, and doesn't have as much HTML overhead. <link> looks nice too and seems to be everywhere.   I think the concern is completely unwarranted. Unless the &quot;unsophisticated user&quot; only watches porn (and 4:3 TV series) on their DVD player, I should think they've figured out how to &quot;unsquish&quot; the picture already. I'd be pissed if I picked up one of your movies and it was 16:9 but not widescreen. (I stopped looking at Wicked titles partly because of this.) That is wasting a lot of pixels for no good reason. And if you do put a &quot;Shot on HD&quot; sticker on your DVDs it'd look amateurish beyond belief. IOW: Go anamorphic. If you won't do that, keep most of the action in the centre of the frame and go 4:3 full screen.

  Have you looked in the video card's driver settings? NVIDIA's drivers for the penguin OS have different brightness/contrast/gamma settings for the accelerated video playback mode. The media players usually have controls to manipulate those settings too. Might be the same for Windows.
