  I'm definitely picking up FRENCH SHAMPOO, as it features several of my favorite Manhattan stars (Darby Lloyd Rains, Alan Marlow, Kim Pope), but I don't have high expectations for it. I believe this is another weekend wonder from Phil Drexler aka Dexter Eagle, and his films from around the same time (ORIENTAL BLUE, ECSTASY IN BLUE) are only interesting to me as curios.

  BAD PENNY is quite good, you should check it out. If you're still angling for a Video-X-Pix Chuck Vincent film: JACK 'N' JILL is his comic masterpiece, and MISBEHAVIN' is a simply delightful Leslie Bovee vehicle. SLEEPY HEAD may be missing footage, but I can't really tell. I personally love the film, as it features Tina Russell's only good acting job. I think you'll enjoy SLIPPERY WHEN WET, it's a more well-rounded feature than HEAD and the cast is great. The most memorable scene finds Annie Sprinkle being sexually liberated by a giant keelbasa (sp?). Sarno's films are definitely an acquired taste, though. VCX's TROUBLE WITH YOUNG STUFF looks good and doesn't seem to be cut (it's a very long film!); it's my pick for Sarno's best hardcore f...

  No this isn't the Kenneth Anger film. It's by Alan Vydra, a foreign director who made several average films in San Francisco in the early 80s. I think I got this one on eBay one time accidentally when the seller said in his description it was Cecil Howard's FIRESTORM. Unfortunately I threw it away. :(

  I haven't seen LOVE-IN ARRANGEMENT, but DIRTY LILLY isn't that great. The best thing about it is non-sex actress Molly Malone, one of Chuck Vincent's favorites. If you like Bethanna, you might enjoy it, as she's in every sex scene, but otherwise it's pretty unmemorable and unfortunately not as funny as Vincent is trying for. For a better Vincent film along the same lines, check out BAD PENNY with Samantha Fox, a genuinely funny little flick. SLIPPERY WHEN WET is a wonderful film following the sex lives of three friends, including sexually repressed artist Annie Sprinkle, unhappily married C.J. Laing, and philandering Hope Stockton, all tied together by nymphomaniac model Crystal Sync. Director Joe Sarno's softcore work is truly exceptional...

  I'm ecstatic that NEON NIGHTS won! Both Command discs were wonderful, of course. I hope that the fact that NEON nabbed the award will lead MB to pursue more Cecil Howard titles.

  Last I spoke with MB, 2007 was looking to be an exciting year, but with the passing of VCX president Rudy Sutton, I think everything's sort of up in the air at the moment. I think with Media Blasters, anything is possible. While they're dealing most with VCX and Cecil Howard at the moment, it's not too far out of the realm of dreams that any of these titles could happen!! The problem is confirming rights holders and tracking down quality elements. My dream Collector's Editions are of PLATINUM PARADISE, FIRESTORM, FOXTROT, and STAR ANGEL, my four favorite Cecil Howard films. Of the VCX library, I would love to have tricked-out special editions of THE DANCERS, LITTLE GIRLS BLUE, "F", ODYSSEY, SEX WORLD, NASTY GIRLS (never on DVD!),...

  The INSATIABLE transfer is taken from the thought-lost original negative, so is the complete uncut version. Sort of like how the negative to NEON NIGHTS turned up the fisting that was previously long unavailable.

  I finally saw Alpha Blue's version of BABYFACE and it, too, is a very poor, faded tape master. And to make matters worse, for some reason (as has happened with other ABA titles), I could get no audio while viewing the film. My VHS copy from VCA is colorful, bright and sharp. ABA's disc is none of these, unfortunately.

  I just did a search on the Essex issue in a previous thread way back in April of this year, and TVXCreative does offer interesting and understandable reasoning of how TVX gained control of some Essex titles. So my apologies for any implications of films being stolen!! I must admit, it's a complicated process trying to figure out who owns what these days, but the general belief is that VCA owns all of the Essex titles. Somehow some slipped through and went to someone else. So again, my apologies to TVX.

  That makes no sense, Bobox. THE FIRST TIME was distributed by Essex, and their entire library is in the possession of VCA/Hustler (which makes me question how TVX could put out both ANGEL ON FIRE, which was an Essex film, and HOT NURSES, which Roberta Findlay owns lock, stock and barrel). OUTRIGHT! And Mimi Morgan is *the* Mimi Morgan, who was in tons of San Francisco films, including THE RESURRECTION OF EVE, shot 5 years previously! There is no other performer who used that name, including in THE FIRST TIME. BABYFACE may not have a standing copyright on file, but you still have to deal with: chain of title.   My question: how could TVX put this out?? VCA owns this film. So both Alpha Blue and TVX's discs are illegal, it seems. Alas, I guess because none of VCA's classics library is coming to DVD anytime soon, all of their titles are fair game for others to put out on DVD from old tapes.

  My worry is that after tackling all the big porno chic hits, then the company will lose interest and think of all other films as lesser and not as deserving of special edition treatment. VCA somehow still has the rights to the Metzger titles for a few more years, but I think MB could do wonders with all of those. MARASCHINO CHERRY is in the clutches of Video-X-Pix.

  There is no LEGITIMATE version of LINDA LOVELACE FOR PRESIDENT available. The film is owned by Arthur Marks, the producer, and he recently sold it to a major DVD company who will be releasing it in 2007 from the original negative. So please don't support bootleggers and wait for the official release if you are going to purchase the film. Or just rent it from Adult DVD Empire or another rental agency. Media Blasters was interested in revisiting DEEP THROAT as a Special Edition, but it's in the negotiations stage right now.

  I have a major beef with the company right now because their Roberta Findlay Collection has deterred another company from putting out legitimate Special Editions of THE TIFFANY MINX and A WOMAN'S TORMENT, from the original negatives, with commentaries and interviews. Somehow their Zebedy Colt Collection was nominated for an AVN Award...despite the fact that VIRGIN DREAMS is a VCX title and already on DVD officially, rendering ABA's Zebedy Colt disc a bootleg. ABA does step up to the plate to release some very obscure and rare titles, usually uncut, but they need to realize that not all porn is public domain. It doesn't work that way. A little research goes a long way.
