  I've done two orders with XAVDream and have a third on the way. I'm very impressed with them for service, receiving the orders around seven days after shipping notification. The discs come unboxed (disc in a standard windowed disc envelope and artwork) in a stout, plain brown cardboard envelope with a simple address label and handwritten "Airmail" on the outside. Return label says "SUMAKAYA" and an address in Walnut CA.

  Robbie, just because the idea's been done before doesn't mean nobody can do it again. There's an old adage about there's nothing new under the sun, and that goes double for porn. I think a movie about somebody trying to make the most surefire disaster porn movie which turns out to be the hottest ticket could be the funniest thing ever made. You could have your "proper" bits of porn happening as behind-the-scenes while the stuff being filmed for the movie would be happening off-screen and be as vile and disgusting as your imagination can bear.   Update of situation - both retailers, neither of who are obliged to under their T&Cs, have offered to make replacements of the missing/dead titles. I've offered, as I think it's only fair, to spring for global priority shipping (with cases). I'm waiting for them to get back to me. When I started this thread, I deliberately didn't mention the suppliers as under their T&Cs, they aren't obliged to help. I've got to give them their dues for excellent customer care - Marc at Lasersedge and Ethan at Fivestar - I give these companies my heartfelt and unconditional recommendation. Thanks guys.

  Oh, I'm very familiar with the pitfalls of mail order. I don't for a second blame the suppliers for the problems, or for that matter the postal systems of the UK or US. After all, the postal systems handle billions of items of mail every day, and 99% of mail gets safely to its destination. Crooked postal workers are extremely rare, and most are honest and hardworking (speaking as a son-of-a-postal-worker - which strikes me as a terrific insult, but I digress). It's just when you get one order go awry, that's happenstance. I accept that. I accept that suppliers have to protect themselves against fraud and can't accept liability for mail lost in transit. It's just when two go titsup in quick succession and twenty three quid isn't a loss easi...

  Been there, done that. Although the picture doesn't rip off Mel Brooks (and there would be hell to pay if they had), there's The First Nudie Musical (1976, Paramount) starring Cindy Williams which is a sort of R-rated version of the Producers. Exploitation producer has idea of making a porno musical. Cue cringe-making musical number about dancing dildoes.

  Maybe the Yak got lost? I've been looking around at international shipping rates and options and Amazon's site has made me realise just how dodgy the game can be. They have a standard international shipping rate which matches L/E's basic (non-special) rate and they talk about shipping in 9-36 business days, so they expect packages to take up to six weeks in transit, and warn that customs can turn that into twelve weeks! As far as I can ascertain (and correct me if I'm wrong), Media Mail is a USPS service based on shipping ready-sorted bags for destinations, so items may have to wait in the mailbag until there's enough items to make up a bag. Then the bag might have to join a queue for actual shipping (joining a full container of mail on ...

  Still no sign of my 21st July package (32 days now). I'd pretty well written the thing off until I started getting my hopes up with this thread ;) I'd still use L/edge like a shot, mind. I'd just use a different shipping option.

  This is a relief. I was writing-off a disc that went in the post on 21st July under the $1.99 Shipping Special. I think in future I should play it safe and go for Global Priority.

  That would explain a lot. I'm in the UK, not the Netherlands, but I did an order with L/E that dispatched between 14th and 16th Jan. Two items arrived after 14 days, but the third (posted 16th) has yet to arrive after 21 days. I'm hoping that will have missed a bulk shipping to Switzerland, 'cause if it's lost that's a first from L/E. As usual, two days after posting this, the disc has arrived safely.   I'd expect orders to speed up now we're well clear of the holiday season. In my experience, the absolute minimum shipping time was 2 days from the US (well done AdultDVD69, however you managed it); the average is 7-10 days and up to the last package the maximum was around 16 days. If you take off the non-working days between Dec 15 and Jan 8, that package actually took 14 working days which wasn't too bad.

  Blondie, keep writing those reviews! I write mainstream reviews and every so often I get flak from people who disagree vehemently with what I've written. I think the internet seems to bring out the worst in people when it comes to communicating their disagreement. If we worked in the "legitimate" press, we wouldn't get this flak. Nobody calls Roger Ebert a m*****f****** sh****g sheep******* ******* ************, but then again maybe they do, and the replies don't get published As to porno content, it must be six months since I bought my last mucky movie - they're just getting too nasty for my liking. I agree 100% with your hate list, not least ATM because I can't figure out how one would f*ck a bank money machine.
