  I put up a lot of my older lesbian videos as short clips as well as full length scenes back in 2008 and I was able to make a respectable number of sales, a few thousands of dollars worth, especially when my store was new to C4S. I still make some sales on C4S and in my other clip stores elsewhere, but nowhere near as many as last year. Unless you have a lot of clips and are able to update your store often it will be hard to sell more mainstream porn video there. Mostly the very unusual fetish & amateur stuff sells more, like fem-dom, foot fetish and niches. Also if you are able to drive traffic to you store you are going to sell a lot more clips than if you rely on just C4S self-generated traffic. <link> <link>

  There are indeed a lot of challenges ahead for porn studios and all kinds of content producers. As a director and producer I have had to adapt quite a bit in recent years. I branched out several years ago from focusing on the shrinking DVD market and started filming a lot of videos for a wide variety of adult websites all around the world which keeps me pretty busy. In addition I run some of my own web sites. As many commented here in this thread, both the adult DVD studios and the online adult website subscription model is in trouble nowadays, especially with so many people who know how to download content for free.   More than a few DVD porn studios as well as internet porn companies have gone out of business the last couple of years or severely cut back on their production schedule. And as a result there are a lot of directors who can't get jobs or gigs. There are a lot of reasons for this, including piracy like illegal tube sites and file sharing services especially online where people can watch so much porn for free, and increased competition online and in the DVD market, plus loss of brick and mortar stores, as well as people's reluctance to use their credits cards to purchase porn, not to mention the poor economy. 2009 will certainly see an acceleration of this trend.
