  • It's All Totally Absurd! (The A-Biz, AIM, HIV+) (topic moved) 5/6/2004 7:36 AM
With all of the cacophony surrounding the adult industry lately with AIM, the HIV+ outbreak, etc., refocusing periodically is truly needed to maintain some sense of sanity (and understanding). After reading numerous posts on various sites, these issues still haven't be fully addressed or are just conveniently ignored by the masses: 1. AIM is still making misstep after misstep with the adding and removing of names from the quarantine list for various reasons. It would seem that the definition of "completely contained" is now open for re-definition. Going on record time and time again in front of the news media saying that AIM (i.e. Sharon Mitchell for all practical purposes) can't release names, when those names are already on the...
  • Time To Shut Down AIM and Sharon Mitchell 4/29/2004 10:49 PM
AIM was bought and paid for in full by the studios, AVN and the Free Speech Coalition. Sharon Mitchell is and was a willing, cooperative Judas goat for the powers that be. Make no mistake that the talent is a necessary, consumable, commodity resource to be utilized for greater profits. The ability on the part of the talent to make better choices for themselves leaves much to be desired. While there will be a few talent members that will be able to exercise more self-direction, make better choices, and have more options available to them, the vast majority of talent members will continually be handicapped by their own ineptitude while being exploited by powers who can capitalize from them. The adult industry will operates largely in the sha...
  • Will Fans Support This? 4/29/2004 1:21 AM
A straightforward and less expensive system is used by the set construction workers in the mainstream entertainment industry. Sure, they're a part of a union, but they work for ALL the studios based on labor needs and skill requirements. A modified PEO in that all of the talent would "join" this group, then work for any (and all) studios that wanted them. Payments for their work would go through this organization. Yes, it would definitely discourage "cash" wages, and makes everything easier to track by the IRS, etc. But then again, the adult industry has constantly sought legitimacy by its mainstream peers. It's about time they start acting like it. They can't be rebels to the end and want legitimate recognition without...
  • State May Require Condoms in Porn 4/29/2004 1:10 AM
A previous post by Jewel De Nyle about moving her company out of California or the U.S. to escape government interference is reprehensible given the fact that mandatory condom usage will add a measure of additional protection for the talent. Once upon a time Jewel was just another girl in a sea of many looking to achieve fame and fortune by using the *skills* she knew best. Her comment illustrates an inflated self-worth and lack of care for those in the industry she refers to as "friends." Crossing over from being in front of the camera to being behind the camera seems to mean that she can now screw others, rather than just getting screwed herself. The most beneficial, single thing for the talent is to able to exercise personal C...
