  • How will the recent developments in HD affect Porn 2/12/2008 10:23:38 PM
Porn will bypass the Blu-ray technology and focus more on VOD and streaming while keeping a foothold with standard DVD. The replication costs for Blu-ray will deter most porn studios from releasing in this format. Porn DVDs don't sell like they used to and Blu-ray isn't going to change that.
  • Why can't popular music be used in porn?? 2/9/2008 4:55:24 PM
Popular music in porn? Are you guys dreaming? Ever wonder why Ally McBeal and The Wonder Years are not out on dvd? The studios couldn't secure rights for the dvd's.
  • Do reviews make a difference? 2/5/2008 9:00:55 PM
Ultrasiet2: Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad I was able to influence someone since I'm not a prolific reviewer (and I've slowed down due to work) but my rationale has always been as follows: Prior to my reviewing, ADT was a great source for my buying decision. And so I wanted to return the favor in helping others make buying decisions. I take great care in not giving grade inflation in my ratings and I hope that it shows though I'm curious on which ones you disagreed with me. However, with the advent of online rentals and the general lack of replay value, a few years ago I started gearing my reviews to the rental crowd since that and now VOD are where the distribution channels are growing. I know what I like to see in my porn and sometim...
  • What's happening with Seymore Butts???? 2/3/2008 2:50:01 AM
Sounds like Seymore had his share of fans back in the day and deservedly so as he "started" the gonzo trend, IMHO. However, he lost his bearings and was never able to adjust once the gonzo market caught up to him and passed him by. He now remains in the lowest of tiers by flooding the market with endless comps consisting of scenes from the 90's with poor picture quality.
  • TEAGAN FORCED TO QUIT, NOT RETIRE!!! 1/19/2008 9:53:21 PM
If the speculation here is correct, then I could only say this to Teagan and Tyler --- you should have hired better counsel when you renewed with DP. When you re-upped, I'm sure you considered the financial security that a contract gave you as opposed to branching out on your own and having to find investors or financing your own venture. And let's face it, the DP work would probably mean that you wouldn't have to perform in the hard-edged gonzo if you went out on your own. I have to believe that with your new family, the best decision at the time was to renew. But now during the term of the renewed contract, you have realized (I'm sure the recent AEE helped as well) that your name can sell products and you shouldn't have to split royalties...
  • Newsreaders for OSX. 1/17/2008 4:02:15 PM
I own a Mac and I use Unison. Unison is okay but it's nowhere as good as Newzbin on the PC side. Unfortunately, there aren't a great deal of newsreaders to choose from on the Mac. If you use bootcamp, parallels, or fusion, then you can use a Windows based newsreader.
  • Does anyone know? 1/14/2008 9:03:01 PM
I don't have Vista but in XP, right-click on 'Start' and click on Properties. Sorry if that doesn't help but I'm on Macs now.

Before reformatting, I would also try a few things --- an anti-virus scan --- running spybot --- defragment of hard drive
  • Inspired by MAC or PC in Polls 12/12/2007 12:55:52 PM
    1) Would I be able to transfer/use my EXCEL/WORD, other PC-based files into my MAC? --- Yes. For Word and Excel files, you have three options. You can purchase MS Office for MAC but I would wait for the 2008 version which will be released in January or February. Or you can run Windows in virtual mode using Parallels or Fusion. Or you can convert to Pages and Numbers (MAC software equivalents) and both of those programs can save and read Word and Excel files, respectively. 2) How limited in software would I be? I know, e.g., TurboTax comes in a MAC version, but do other programs? --- The biggest limitation I've found with MAC is Quicken. Quicken for MAC sucks balls compared to the Windows version. Again, if you have Fusion or Parallels, you ...

BumBum: Good idea but think of the admin/moderator nightmare that your idea would cause. Flame war city.
  • HD or Blue Ray? 11/16/2007 12:24:12 AM
"1080pwhat? 1080p30 or 1080p60" That depends on which player that you have. I have an Toshiba A2 which is 60fps. However, if you have the higher end models, thee most recent firmware upgrade enabled 24fps.

  • HD or Blue Ray? 11/15/2007 4:27:17 PM
phatbasey: Yes, HD DVD and Blue-Ray both can output at 1080p. However, keep in mind that some of the earlier hi-def porn disks were authored at 720p.
