  Somewhat off topic, "Supplies of precision ball screws have been depleted by the war (in Iran). Sourcing them is adding months or even years to the production time for Patriot missiles." I'm sure Trump doesn't run around counting missiles, but the Department of Defense damned well better know if their pipelines can meet demand. This article suggests - once again - that Hegseth doesn't. Never mind Iran, how is this deterring your bestest budddy Putin, Donald?

  Nova, on PBS.The latest episode examines the lives and cultures of some of the first people who lived in the arctic, emphasizing their sophistication, as well as their oneness with the land. These were not ignorant savages, as the European/white-man narratives would have us believe. These were sophisticated humans who were, and who remain, deeply embedded in, and respectful of the lands that sustained them. As usual, Nova hit it out of the park - highly recommended.   I thought I posted this, but I can't find it, so here it is again: White House security turns away reporters after Trump announced a ban on three news outlets whose coverage he deems unfair. (Source - New York Times). Now, obviously, his ban violates the Constitution. That being so, one would expect that he doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning in court. However, it fits our whiner in chief's pitch to his base, and we certainly can't count on the Supremes to smack down Trump's violations. They might, then again, they might not, but this seems pretty open and shut. ... and, surprising no one, a federal judge has directed the White House (thus, The Donald) to restore the reporters' access.   I see Trump is moving to give control of N.I.H. grants to an "outside" panel, which is to say, a bunch of Trump toadies - in order to "redirect billions of dollars of research spending. What are the odds that most of those billions of dollars end up in Trump's pocket?

  I just learned that my state is uniquely located within a regional climate phenomenon known as a "warming hole", which means it has "experienced a slower and less statistically significant rate of warming compared to the rest of the United States." So, maybe I can keep eating meat a while longer. By the way, cows make great pets, but you can't keep them in town, and if you don't care for them properly the vet's bill is going to ruin your day. Still, most kids love them.

  I see that, for the third time, a federal judge has blocked Trump's administration from restricting mail-in voting. You remember Trump's two-faced voting scheme, right? He is fine with mailing in his own ballot, but nobody else should be allowed to, since it might make it harder for him to steal the election.   Wow, now Laura Loomer has done an about-face and gone to Ukraine to show support for the country's fight against Putin. Didn't see that coming. Looks like Trump's support for Ukraine may be back on. Not saying it will last, we are talking about Putin's biggest fan, after all, but it is definitely better than where we were a few days ago.
