  It's easy to blame online shopping for retail chains tanking. I think it was already having problems before online shopping became a thing. Many years ago, I went shopping at Kmart. I was buying multiple items, including work boots. When I got to the front, not a single cash register was manned. You had to use self-checkout and there was only one employee trying to help anyone having trouble. Expensive items (like work boots) have a security tag on them that must be removed.   I liked her in a made for television movie called, "The $5.20 an Hour Dream" in which she played a single parent trying to get a higher paying position in the factory she worked in. Those jobs were being done by men, and she would be the first woman to work in that department. I liked that they were willing to show the struggles she had to go through just to get the opportunity and the equal struggles of performing the more physical demands of the job. Definitely worth the watch. Some of those made for television movies back then were better than what was being shown in theaters.
