- Halloween XXX "Porn Parody" Smash's Feature Film 6/28/2011 11:30:30 PM Myload wrote: You're right about Jason not being in the first "Friday The 13th". His mom was the villain. Jason first appeared in the second one, but he didn't wear the famous hockey mask until the third installment. Even though Jason was a necessity for the parody, the movie should have taken place at Camp Crystal Lake. Forgive me in advance if I am very confused but are you talking about "Official Friday the 13th Parody"? If so your information is incorrect. It does take place at Camp Crystal Lake although I changed it to Crystal Lake Nudist Camp. I even went so far as to film the camp sequences in Colorado so the vegetation around the lake would be dense and green. In fact we flew numerous cast members to Colorado an...
- Halloween XXX "Porn Parody" Smash's Feature Film 6/26/2011 1:54:38 PM The last few posts have been very cool. I'm sure that if I watch Jim's version there will be some LOL moments and if he watches mine there will as well. For die hard Halloween fans this is a huge bonus. Buy both! This whole 'whose is better' line is silly. More variety makes for a richer world. We in the biz have much larger Dragons to battle. Live and let live as they say and all horror fans on the planet should buy both halloween parodies. Good Thoughts - Gary Orona
- Halloween XXX "Porn Parody" Smash's Feature Film 6/26/2011 12:34:52 AM Okay found my password. To finish my rant. Stuart and Julios comments are obviously malicious. Both Psycho and Friday 13th have gotten rave reviews so don't be fooled by the spinsters. And for anyone ( Julio) to claim with authority what a parody must be is pretentious, self-serving and ridiculous. Read my topic on this matter, there are many different opinions. So any review based on "it must be this way" is absurd and childish. Look at the production value in Psych and Friday 13th! so Cody give it up. Stop being such malicious monsters. Isn't the idea of a parody to have some fun? For God sakes LIGHTEN UP.
- Softcore-Is it always fake? 4/21/2011 12:36:38 AM I've created/produced/directed 6 seasons of shows for HBO/Cinemax, more than 65 episodes and 14 movies for HBO/Cinemax; "Hotel Erotica" the series, "The Erotic Traveler" the series, "Thrills" the series as well as hundreds of PPV softcore titles. On only one (1) occasion (having shot over 1000 softcore scenes) did actual sex take place and it was between a guy and a girl who did hardcore films so it wasn't much of a stretch. So to answer the original question (at least in my case) sex isn't actually happening in most softcore-only movies. Now I'm talking about movies that were shot "only' in softcore form, NOT hardcore movies in which a softcore version was simultaneously produced. I've now produced and di...
- Should porn parodies emulate or deviate? 4/5/2011 9:05:15 PM charn wrote: I don't have a definite opinion about emulate or deviate, since I haven't yet watched a complete hardcore porn parody. To me the most important part of the writing is the title. If it's a formulaic Not ______, the Official XXX Parody, I pass automatically. Edited by - charn on 4/5/2011 2:03:57 AM I fully understand that your knee-jerk reaction would be to pass on specific titles that are somewhat ridiculous. Consider though, that often we producer/directors do not create the titles. That's left to the sales/marketing departments. A better tact might be to find producer/directors you like and stick with them regardless of whether the title is silly or not. You may be pleasantly surprised. In other words if my next movie is an ...

- Should porn parodies emulate or deviate? 1/21/2011 1:40:41 AM [/quote] Did anyone over at Zero Tolerance consider having Jason use that big scary machete he had to kill the boys but use toxic creampies to kill the girls? If the murders had carried out like this it would have made the movie much more enjoyable and realistic as a horror porn IMHO. Sex and violence are controversial and somewhat taboo, but it has been done succesfully on several horror porn features; so why couldn't Jason have been a rapist/murderer? It would not have been out of character for such an evil and demented abomination to track those girls down after stalking ans scary the life out of them and then fucking them to death with a forced creampie using his monstorous dick. - Should porn parodies emulate or deviate? 1/19/2011 7:33:16 PM I agree that a Parody of Body Heat would be a natural the only problem is that DP released a non-parody "Body Heat" this year as an original feature. There would be too much confusion to do a parody of the original Body Heat at this time. I'm curious, there have been recent announcements of parodies coming this year in which the story lines will pick up "after" the conclusion of the original stories. In essence 'sequel' parodies in which an original sequel was never produced. This would be extreme deviation since they're really not following any previous work except for pre-established characters and I'm assuming some connection to the original through plot. How do these forms of parodies sit with the masses?
- Should porn parodies emulate or deviate? 1/14/2011 3:47:36 PM It seems fairly even right now with emulation perhaps edging out deviation by a few points.
- Should porn parodies emulate or deviate? 1/14/2011 1:31:37 AM Flash wrote: I question for you regarding this. Does it cost the distributor much more to include a 2nd or 3rd disc in a release? If not, why don't you have two cuts on the release. One, the cut the distributors want and a second disc with a cut with shorter, tighter sex scenes that don't disrupt the flow of the film. That way viewers can decide which cut they want to view. A second disc can increase the price point a bit but it's usually an offering of a lot of bonus material. As a secondary version of the same material it would be a tough sell. I doubt many other than extreme purists would buy into that. (I'd love it of course but there is good reason I'm not in sales! Artists can be pathetic accountants!) 'Official Psycho Parody' is an...

I've been battling this a lot lately. The minute you impose a 20 minute sex into a narrative driven show you've thrown a huge monkey wrench into the works. It's impossible to maintain suspense, emotion, vibe or whatever you're story is doing. I'm contemplating adding an additional sex scene, adding dialogue and story elements, then reducing the overall length of the sex scenes a bit, so it's less obtrusive. Sometimes 'less' feels like much more. I think this is also why the few parodies we've done have been challenging and why I asked the original question. ...
- The 2008 and beyond "Shot on Film" list 1/12/2011 1:01:11 PM Thanks for the post John. I hadn't really thought too much about how we "film"makers have become such dinosaurs! That's such a short list. I'd love to go back to my roots in film and shoot some more but our budgets these days would barely handle just the film and telecine costs. Nevermind the rest of the production! At any rate I'd love to see a longer list. Is Andrew Blake still shooting on film... or even still shooting I suppose? Sanatorium is about 50% 35mm film, the rest HD. I think Mailice is 100% 35mm film. My hats off to Lew Xypher for that!
- Zero Tolerance Psycho Parodya HIT and a MISS 1/5/2011 1:22:17 PM Now I've just been told the B&W version is in the disc set as a bonus! So I guess it was a false alarm. Now I'm completely confused as to why the B&W bonus isn't listed on any of the special features notes on sites that are selling the movie. So I guess it's just being overlooked. But ZT has informed me that it is in the two disc set. On a tech note for those interested; the B&W version is not simply a desaturation of the color version. I went in shot by shot and graded the movie for B&W. If we had simply dialed the color out there would have been a lot of flat shots. So we meticulously toned the B&W so it's good and rich. I really encourage more discerning viewers to watch the B&W version as I've stated before, it's very cool. At times yo...
- Zero Tolerance Psycho Parodya HIT and a MISS 1/4/2011 7:54:14 PM I think ZT released it without my B&W bonus version. I'm completely bummed. I sincerely hoped to make some of the harder core Psycho fans really happy that way... my head is on the desk right now. It's soooooo cool in B&W only... don't get me wrong though, the color version is great. Sara Sloane (Marion Crane) has a dialogue scene with Norman just prior to their sex scene that is completely twisted. It's one of my favorite scenes in awhile. BUT, I actually did a B&W shift to color in the color version! It happens much earlier than you suggested, near the beginning of the movie in the middle of the scene between Sam and Marion in the Arizona Motel Room, but it is there nevertheless. Maybe I can talk Zero Tolerance into a "Director's Cu...

If I were to complain it would be over the fact it doesn't look like a black & white version is included on the disc. This seems like a film where that would be warranted. Especially since Zero Tolerance saw fit to put up a [ invalid url ]. Maybe there is one and it isn't mentioned on the box though. I would also complain about the marketing, or lack thereof, for this title. I wasn't even aware it existed until this thread was created. Funny you should ask... I DID deliver an all B&W version to Zero Tolerance and I'm a bit embarrassed to say that with the holidays and what not I haven't checked the final disc set to make sure that's the w...
- Porn shot on a D-SLR? 1/2/2011 6:39:16 PM I agree with Quasar. Use a simple marker then post sync. You don't need a time code slate or any fancy post software. Studio Depot (Hollywood) or Filmtools (Burbank)sell great professional slates. And if you can get a field recorder that has XLR inputs... highly recommended. The XLR to mini adapters are prone to problems especially in the mini jack on the cheaper recorders.

I would generally expect any title that contained the word parody in the title to be a comedic spoof. I know of no definition for the word parody that indicates that the subject matter shouldn't be comedic in nature. And doesn't the word "Parody" more or less mean - to make fun of. As in FUN. Maybe that's why I'm getting so pissed off at these guys, they're taking all the FUN out of it???

No, but seriously if this Psycho parody is of the same caliber as that Friday the 13th parody which Zero Tolerance released in October then I'll pass; that movie wasn't scary at ALL and every kill scene was absolutely indefensible ~ who in thier right mind is going to sit there/lay there and let some hockey masked-wearing, big machete-weilding maniac jerk off at them for several seconds? Jason didn't even use that big ass machete in the whole film. Mike Quasar, I expected better from Zero Tolerance than that insult to the horror genre and the porn genre as well. It wasn't even a comedy because I could have spent that money on another purchase and ...

Reading that was like putting water on parched lips; I was elated - you were doing something virtually no one else in "the industry" was willing to do: defend XXX narrative films and demand an increase in quality filmmaking in hardcore cinema. (Quote taken from 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die-Revised Edition) I considered this before taking it on and fully understand that regardless there will always be those waiting with microscopes in hand. So rather than just sit around and say, "gosh it would have been fun to take a try at Psycho," I decided to give it a a go. But then I've never been afraid to take big risks... did that for years at HBO/Cinemax. Watch "The Erotic Traveler" series sometime, I...
