  The last few posts have been very cool. I'm sure that if I watch Jim's version there will be some LOL moments and if he watches mine there will as well. For die hard Halloween fans this is a huge bonus. Buy both! This whole 'whose is better' line is silly. More variety makes for a richer world. We in the biz have much larger Dragons to battle.   Okay found my password. To finish my rant. Stuart and Julios comments are obviously malicious. Both Psycho and Friday 13th have gotten rave reviews so don't be fooled by the spinsters. And for anyone ( Julio) to claim with authority what a parody must be is pretentious, self-serving and ridiculous. Read my topic on this matter, there are many different opinions. So any review based on "it must be this way" is absurd and childish. Look at the production value in Psych and Friday 13th! so Cody give it up. Stop being such malicious monsters. Isn't the idea of a parody to have some fun? For God sakes LIGHTEN UP.

  I've created/produced/directed 6 seasons of shows for HBO/Cinemax, more than 65 episodes and 14 movies for HBO/Cinemax; "Hotel Erotica" the series, "The Erotic Traveler" the series, "Thrills" the series as well as hundreds of PPV softcore titles. On only one (1) occasion (having shot over 1000 softcore scenes) did actual sex take place and it was between a guy and a girl who did hardcore films so it wasn't much of a stretch. So to answer the original question (at least in my case) sex isn't actually happening in most softcore-only movies.   I agree that a Parody of Body Heat would be a natural the only problem is that DP released a non-parody "Body Heat" this year as an original feature. There would be too much confusion to do a parody of the original Body Heat at this time. I'm curious, there have been recent announcements of parodies coming this year in which the story lines will pick up "after" the conclusion of the original stories. In essence 'sequel' parodies in which an original sequel was never produced. This would be extreme deviation since they're really not following any previous work except for pre-established characters and I'm assuming some connection to the original through plot. How do these forms of parodies sit with the masses?

  Thanks for the post John. I hadn't really thought too much about how we "film"makers have become such dinosaurs! That's such a short list. I'd love to go back to my roots in film and shoot some more but our budgets these days would barely handle just the film and telecine costs. Nevermind the rest of the production! At any rate I'd love to see a longer list. Is Andrew Blake still shooting on film... or even still shooting I suppose? Sanatorium is about 50% 35mm film, the rest HD. I think Mailice is 100% 35mm film. My hats off to Lew Xypher for that!

  Now I've just been told the B&W version is in the disc set as a bonus! So I guess it was a false alarm. Now I'm completely confused as to why the B&W bonus isn't listed on any of the special features notes on sites that are selling the movie. So I guess it's just being overlooked. But ZT has informed me that it is in the two disc set. On a tech note for those interested; the B&W version is not simply a desaturation of the color version. I went in shot by shot and graded the movie for B&W. If we had simply dialed the color out there would have been a lot of flat shots. So we meticulously toned the B&W so it's good and rich. I really encourage more discerning viewers to watch the B&W version as I've stated before, it's very cool. At times yo...

  I think ZT released it without my B&W bonus version. I'm completely bummed. I sincerely hoped to make some of the harder core Psycho fans really happy that way... my head is on the desk right now. It's soooooo cool in B&W only... don't get me wrong though, the color version is great. Sara Sloane (Marion Crane) has a dialogue scene with Norman just prior to their sex scene that is completely twisted. It's one of my favorite scenes in awhile. BUT, I actually did a B&W shift to color in the color version! It happens much earlier than you suggested, near the beginning of the movie in the middle of the scene between Sam and Marion in the Arizona Motel Room, but it is there nevertheless.   I agree with Quasar. Use a simple marker then post sync. You don't need a time code slate or any fancy post software. Studio Depot (Hollywood) or Filmtools (Burbank)sell great professional slates. And if you can get a field recorder that has XLR inputs... highly recommended. The XLR to mini adapters are prone to problems especially in the mini jack on the cheaper recorders.
