- Running time difference of PAL & NTSC DVDs? 12/22/2004 12:49 AM Yes, my TV handles NTSC DVDs perfectly well. In fact, since seeing some really awful NTSC to PAL conversions of R18s distributed by Zipper in the UK, I've stuck to buying the NTSC versions when I can.
- Running time difference of PAL & NTSC DVDs? 12/20/2004 5:02 PM Thanks ghostpro. It was actually The Recruits that I was thinking of. I'd misread the time on the BBFC site as 83 minutes, rather than 85, so the running times are equal. I also had a look at the running times for Taking Flight on the TLA and BBFC sites, and those are equal too. It's normally only fisting and watersports that the BBFC have a problem with, so I was surprised that an apparent 7 minutes was missing. And to cv: I'm a newbie here, so will do a search for topics about editing for international releases..
- DiVX AVI to WMV conversion with freeware? 12/20/2004 4:47 PM Although windows media player will play DivX, the DiVx codec will need to be downloaded and installed first. Microsoft's windows media encoder is free and will convert DivX avi movies to wmv format.
- Running time difference of PAL & NTSC DVDs? 12/20/2004 5:50 AM Thanks ghostpro. Maybe Falcon wasn't the best example, as they release director's cuts. But I was referring their normal releases. I guess my point is... although the BBFC (who rate R18s) website says that no cuts were made to Falcon's 'The Recruits', it says that the running time is 83 minutes. But the US version is 90 minutes, and 90 minutes is about average for a Falcon movie. Maybe the version submitted for rating was already watered down by the UK distributor...?
- Running time difference of PAL & NTSC DVDs? 12/19/2004 6:07 PM So if a US Falcon NTSC DVD with a running time of 90 minutes is released in the UK on PAL DVD with a running time of 83 minutes, then something has been cut?
- Ebay UK and Porn 12/19/2004 3:51 PM Have you tried QXL? There are a lot of porn DVDs (both R18 and unrated) for sale on there... Edited by - gambrinus on 12/19/2004 3:52:56 PM
- Running time difference of PAL & NTSC DVDs? 12/19/2004 3:48 PM Thanks for the reply. How many percent, would you say? And would the PAL be longer or shorter than the NTSC one? And why would that be?
- Running time difference of PAL & NTSC DVDs? 12/19/2004 6:17 AM Hi, When a porn video that was originally on NTSC DVD is converted to PAL DVD for the UK/European market, should there be a difference in running time between the two? I know that when feature films are converted to PAL that they are about 5% shorter, but I mean porn films that are originally shot on NTSC video, and (professionally?) converted to PAL. Thanks in advance for any info.
