  IMHO, all Symantec s/w especially their firewall, are resource hogs. I've used Sygate's free personal firewall for over three years, and it has alerted me (i.e., unauthorized, outgoing TCP or UDP connection being established) when my system was infected with a Trojan. FWIW, I've known several people who were hacked through unsecure UDP ports, which are the same ports utlizied for a lot of the online gaming http://smb.sygate.com/products/spf_standard.htm
