  as for what shyla's blindness contributes to the narrative, it does explain melissa's willingness to go underground for abi even though they'd just met. there were probably more practical ways to justify it but it's better than nothing i suppose?   ^^ i can see where you're coming from but i somewhat disagree. i think shyla's still a decent performer capable of nuance (like in "christmas spirit" for a recent example); she's just bad at selling fear/anxiety, which was unfortunately very obvious in this scene and her dream pairing with aiden.
