  I used to be very well informed on all of this, but I seem to have forgotten it all. What I do remember is that the MPCC is not so much concerned with penetration as they are with contact with genitals, whether it be with face, hands, whatever. "Penetration" is more of a bellweather between softcore and hardcore for the studios and the consumers. The MPCC also does take into consideration whether the shot of the nude is a close-up or at a distance. It is also worth noting -- That there is no such thing as an "XXX" rating. That was a marketing ploy created by the porn industry. The vast, vast majority of adult films are never submitted for a rating.   FDC, Sometimes they are, sometimes they aren't. Depends on what you are watching and the circumstances. Some "softcore" is just hardcore with all the penetration shots edited out. Quite obviously in those cases they are having sex. Some softcore is just simulated. Get one or two of the Penthouse Behind the Scenes tapes and you will see how it is done.   Ask twelve people, get twelve different answers. Playboy softcore shows everything on women, except in the genital reason no labias. On men they only occassionally show penises, and then only limp.   Steph, What you are saying is right on with my experience too. My wife's favorite adult film is INSATIABLE. I think she could watch the pool table scene over and over again. She doesn't enjoy the all-girl or tease films at all. Me? I'll keep ZAZEL. Like Saki, it would be the last film I would part with. My favorite scene is the tiger butt, followed a very close second by the painted orchid. The only problem with the painted orchid scene is after you see it the first time, it loses just a little, with that surprise that grabs you the first time you see it.   In my opinion the greatest adult film of all time is ZAZEL. And yes it is available on DVD. It is beautiful to watch. The cinematography, direction, sets and costumes are beyond compare. The women are gorgeous. There are only a couple scenes that demonstrate real heat. But what it lacks in steam it makes up with in aesthetics. ------------------ Bing!!   I don't know exactly what you are looking for, when you say "filmmaking." If you are looking for the best cinematography and direction, you are best to go with the directors Andrew Blake, Michael Ninn, Cameron Grant, and Philip Mond. But be forewarned that Blake can be an acquired taste. He is the furthest thing from nasty. He sees himself as an artist, celluloid is his canvas, and he is painting erotica art. Of the DVDs currently available, my recommendation would probably go with NIGHT TRIPS. Ninn's films are very well made. But he tends to go crazy with the digital computer capabilities. Ninn gives you all the heat that Blake lacks, but his films aren't as beautiful. I would recommend Ninn's NEW WAVE HOOKERS 5, but I have trouble stomac...
