  I’m trying to track down a specific scene from an older studio, but it’s been difficult because their releases weren’t always labeled consistently and many of the original websites are no longer online. The only performer name I have is “Gen”, which came from the nowoffline site girlsigot.com. She appears on several DVDs I’ve been able to locate, but not all of the scenes that used to be listed there seem to have made it onto physical releases.   That’s honestly one of the safest places to buy from in my experience. If you’re trying to get DVDs for quality, it’s a minefield out there right now. DVDs are drying up, good sellers are disappearing, and the remaining stock is getting older and more questionable. The risk of getting a DVDR goes up every year. I’ve made around 75 DVD purchases this year and only received 3 DVDRs total. Two of those were done cheaply — one wouldn’t even play fully, and another was burned on a DVD5 instead of a DVD9, so the quality was noticeably worse.   I believe the following three studios were part of a larger umbrella distributor: 1. VaginalCumshots.com 2. Facialhumiliation.com 3. Pantyhoseteen.com These sites went offline more than a decade ago, but the production style and distribution patterns suggest their material may have been repackaged under different labels. A lot of companies from that era reused footage across multiple brands, and several wellknown performers appeared across these catalogs, which should make it possible to trace the original material to pressed physical releases.   I couldn’t find a lot of recent info about ExcaliburFilms, but I decided to take a chance on an order anyway. They’re based in California, which usually means they have to operate legitimately due to the state’s strict regulations around adult media. Their VOD platform also appears to run on Adult Empire’s backend, so they clearly have some kind of affiliate or partner relationship with a major distributor.   Same boat here. I bought a bunch of AE stuff, but the bitrate and overall encoding quality just never gets high enough to look “HQ,” no matter what they label it as. I eventually started rebuying everything on DVD because the discs actually give you something you can work with. The downside is DVDs are disappearing fast, and the older ones are getting harder to track down now that the format’s basically dead.

  I’ve been buying a large number of DVDs from the 2000s for preservation and restoration work, and I’m seeing more and more sellers spreading the same misinformation to excuse selling bootlegs or cheap DVDR copies. For anyone doing archival work, this is a real problem — taking a DVD9 retail disc and compressing it onto a DVDR is a massive quality loss and basically useless for restoration. Here are the main issues with the “studios switched to DVDRs” claim: 1. A title that had a pressed glass-mastered release cannot suddenly become a DVDR. If a DVD was originally pressed with a reflective silver underside and a proper matrix code, that is the authentic retail version. Any DVDR version appearing years later is not studio-made.
