  sorry if this grosses some of you out but, I've seen scenes in the past where it appears that a girl may have some white fluid coming out of her while she's getting fucked. A scene from a movie called Carolina Girls comes to mind where a cute blonde jumps on top of a guy in the cowgirl position and the more she rides him, the more this white stuff seems to come out of her. Lube? Maybe, but you never see the bottle or anything. My question is, can you guys recall any scenes or any particular actresses that get seemingly wet like this?   not that this helps your current situation, but I've heard that Toshiba set top players are the most tempermental players around. I've bought 4 Sony DVD players, 3 of which no longer work, 2 Philips, both of which are great, 1 Oritron (yes, Oritron) which works fine and 1 Playstation 2, no problems. But for what it's worth, other people in the mainstream DVD world regard Toshibas as the bottom of the barrel. Many of them have Toshibas in their QC bays because they figure that if their DVDs will work in the Toshiba, they'll work in anything.

  Saki- Yes, Andrew Blake's stuff looks great, and believe it or not, so could Appasionata if you re-transferred the film from the orignal print. I think Appassionata's transfer is the main culprit as to why it looks so bad. As I said before, you could even make Appassionata look better from the edit master that exists now if you ran it through a degraining process whcih any reputable post house can do relatively inexpensively. I just think Appassionata got screwed technically every way you can get screwed.

  planet- We're also forgetting one thing: the operator. You can have all the money and the best equipment around, but if you're operator sucks, then so will your product. Chances are, when the scan the film to video, they'll do it at a mainstream post house, because I would imagine that there isn't an adult post house with the necessary film scanning equipment to transfer film to tape. At that mainstream post house they're not too big on working on porno, cause God knows what the neighbors might say, let alone other clients who may happen to be there at the same time (even though they're the guys who are buying this stuff in the end, but that's another topic).   planet sex - There are lots of different variations of 16mm film just like when you go and buy film for your still camera, but to an even larger extent. Let's assume they bought cheap film stock, let's also assume that they had a crappy transfer from film to video. If you start with grainy film and then multiply that by a transfer that was cheap, you will end up sometimes enhancing the grain or noise in the picture. IF you look closely on tv you'll see this artifact in every show you watch. If you're watching golf and they do a closeup of the ball on the green you'll see a dark line in the transition from the white ball to the green grass. It's called edge enhancement, detail or gain. Some stations have it set higher than others, CBS here...

  diesel- I'm not so sure that The Gate does live up to its hype. Just because there's a lot of something, does that make it good? I was bored by The Making Of, I thought that the bloopers sucked and as far as the other bonus material, am I really gonna have time to watch the movie once w/o commentary and two more times with different commentary? Probably not. I thought the "Interviews" were just more babbling from the set. Everybody's different, but why do I need to see crying and crazy people and violence mixed with my sex? I don't get it, but I guess I don't have to, there's enough people out there who are willing to pay for this stuff and have the time to watch it.   The noise thing really is inexcusable. For about $500- they could have run the whole movie through a denoise process and come up with a slightly softer but much less offensive picture. I think one of the reasons they put it on 2 discs may be because of the grain. Anything with that much noise in it has to be encoded at a very high bit rate to keep the noise which yields a very large file, which could be a reason why they chose 2 discs over one, simply because with the movie itself being such a huge file, they couldn't fit it all even on a dual layer disc. I was thoroughly impressed by the effort that went into the menus and think that the bios alone are worth buying the DVD for. Anyone know what Adam & Eve DVD is going to get this trea...

  Just got my copies of The Gate and Appassionata and am wondering where the market is for all this extra stuff on adult dvds. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Adam & Eve and Wicked both spent a fortune on these dvds, but in the end do any of us really care about 36 minutes worth of behind the scenes footage from a porno? They're both excellent, and maybe I'm in the minority, but I still would rather see hot chicks/couples having sex (not degraded mind you) with only a few shreds of story in between scenes if any at all. I've purchased many a compilation tape in my time. If I want to watch a movie with a story, then I'll watch a mainstream movie. Just curious about other opinions here.   Drew- The movie itself was not that great and the quality of the encode was as good as it could be considering the graininess of the film. I'd like to see a VHS (sorry I mentioned the V word) version just to see if the orignal was that bad or the author made it worse. My guess it was bad 16mm film multiplied by a bad transfer from film to video in which case the authors hands were really tied when it comes to making it look any better unless he has access to really high end equipment or a noise reducer, but since this is adult, I'm guessing he doesn't. Aside from the movie itself, Adam & Eve obviously put some time and effort into this DVD. The menus are pretty close to mainstream quality, a CG rendered Rennaissance (sp?) style room with ...

  I just watched about a 7 or 8 minute interview with Mark Davis on the Appassionata DVD where he talks about being recently broken up with Kobe Tai. The interview says it was taped I think in December of 2000 so it's pretty recent. It's also got interviews with some other cast members that are all about the same length. Pretty cool.

  Mr. Crawford, forgive my ignorance, but I've never heard of The Gate, but will order it today. My Appassionata DVD should be here in the next few days and I will gladly look at both and let everyone know what I think. Out of curiosity, you say The Gate has things no other DVD has ever had, can you elaborate on this? This is great, it seems like adult is headed more and more towards mainstream every day.

  I couldn't help but notice the Appassionata 2 disc DVD set on the home page. Does anyone know if this is true? Is there really a 2 disc adult dvd set? If so, how is it and what's on it that makes it worthy of 2 discs? From what I remember, the movie wasn't really that good was it? thanks
