  ^The link to that Guardian article isn't working for me, it looks like the end of the URL is missing. <link> Interesting that they acknowledge that most sex workers don't want this law, and do actually cite evidence of the success of New Zealand's decriminalisation, yet still come to their prohibitionist conclusion.   Any thoughts on Germany's planned <link> ? It seems to have been watered down since it was first proposed. For example, I've heard that the current draft no longer requires compulsory regular medical check-ups (similar to Nevada brothels), but sex workers would still have to register with their local authorities, and undergo an interview and counselling before they could legally work. I've seen a few sex workers express particular concern over mandatory registration, especially the potential loss of anonymity that goes with being listed as an official prostitute on a government database.   Similar legislation criminalising paying for sex has just been <link> in Northern Ireland too, despite a <link> . I suppose it's not surprising that it passed so easily. When conservative Catholic nuns (including former Magdalene Laundry orders), feminists groups, and evangelical Protestants all work together, they have a lot of lobbying power in Ireland. It looks like the legislation is pretty much just the Swedish Model, so it could have been worse.
